Fedor will fight Barnett in Japan. Thats the only fight for Fedor I really care about anyway so as long as that happens I will be happy.
The problem is seeing the best fighter even turn out once a year. His peak might already be behind him and rather than getting to see him dismantle Lesnar or beat down the Carwins and Mirs we get to see a freak show against that big Japanese lad and then a fight against unproven Rogers. And then wait another 12 months before we see him again.
Fedor is a PROVEN quantity. He is already an ATG and recognised as the greatest MMA fighter of all times. His legend has already been written. Those that are late to this sport im afraid too bad. Now if your going to trash Rogers who is/was a bonafide puncher then break down for me the difference between him and a guy like Carwin. The facts remain there is none. As for rubbishing Fedor's competition against freakshows thats more hogwash. This is a guy that has UNMATCHED consistency in this sport with devasatating victories over 5 former UFC champs. Thats not a guy you can just dismiss casually because of bull**** spin from Dana White. Fedor's paid his dues to MMA. If he wants to get paid and M1 allows him to break bread more power to him.
This is what I dont understand. The guy fought the best of the best time and time again. The idea that he somehow needs to still prove himself is pure BS. Nobody can honestly say they think Carwin would be a legitimate opponent for Fedor yet Rogers wasnt. For me there is one guy he needs to face and thats Barnett. Once thats done he should call it a day.
Because MMA fans have short memories. There is no fight in MMA that matters at heavy other than Barnett Fedor. The rest are just window dressing and that includes Carwin vs Lesnar. Both Fedor and Barnett are bonafide vets and locks for the HOF. Carwin and Lesnar dont even have as many fights as Fedor or Barnett combined.

Dana doesnt do one off's. Especially not with a dangerous fighter like Fedor. He wants all options on his fighters. Naturally Fedor told him to **** off as he had better options. Economically thats smart business for Fedor. The UFC does whats best for itself. Fedor does whats best for himself. But somehow the UFC fans cry foul...

UFC contracts by and large depend entirely on the popularity of the fighter. The big names make 6 figures. But very rarely do they make in excess of $600,000. The low carders though can make as little as $3000. Thats not enough to pay their training and medical fee's. The same reason for Fedor wanting all options on his fighters is the same reason why a stud like Manhoef never came to the UFC. Its Dana's way or no way. Now Fedor was making 7 figures in PRIDE as well as with Affliction. Not including his promotional obligations and sponsors he makes way more than most of the major names in the UFC. Dana said he was willing to pull out the stops for him. But the fact that he refused to co-promote nixed the negociations and Strikeforce made a coup and signed Fedor. The fact that M1 are small fry is a bit immaterial as Fedor holds a major stake in M1. If Dana really wanted Fedor in the UFC he should have been prepared to get ****ed in the ass for it as Fedor doesnt need the UFC. But Dana is a businessman first. The UFC contract according to Fedor was very unfair and one sided. The main thing they had a problem was: 1) If Fedor became a UFC champion then he CAN NEVER leave the organisation until he looses a fight. His contract would theoratically never end and would be stuck fighting against UFC fighters only. 2) If Fedor lost or if Fedor put on a bad performance then the UFC has the right to decrease his pay check to any level it wanted to or they could FIRE Fedor altogether.
