his name will always be beside eric morales in my memory. their rivalry was on of the best in our era
A guy who went from a rough and tumble brawling style that threw caution to the wind, to a tamed aggression boxer with a very good mind for boxing. Sometimes that aggression cost him fights, but its what allowed him to treat Hamed like a stepchild.
The best of a great crop of lighter-weight fighters, and one of the best fighters of the last quarter century.
I will remember him for all the great fights he gave us but i hated the way he went out against Pac. I think the way Morales went out against Pac was better than the way Barrera went out against him.
I really don't see anything wrong with his performance against Pacquiao. He's given so much of himself to boxing, since he was 15, and he wanted to avoid a KO loss in his final fight.
*a complete fighter, one of the best mexican fighters to ever lace up the gloves *one of the few boxers who came back stronger after a devastating loss (i'm referring to his bout with junior jones) *i will always remember him for his great trilogies with morales and his domination over naseem hamed
a smart fighter who was not afraid to fight anyone and not afraid to get into rematches either. He was definitely one of the p4p boxers in the 90's and today.
One of the greatest fighters of my lifetime, extremely skillful and multi-dimensional, he fought the best and wouldn't cop **** from anybody. Him slamming Hamed's head into the turnbuckle was classic
If I was stranded on a desert island and could only watch fights from one single boxer's career it would be MAB. He was everything you want in a fighter and more. Amazing skill, natural ability, heart, passion, pride, and longevity. It's unbelievable how many great fights he had and how long he stayed at the top level.
