No, I think that shared last name is purely coincidental. If they were closely related, that would have likely been publicized when Mac was climbing the ranks. Foster is an awfully common last name. Bob was born in Albuquerque, Mac in Alexandria, Virginia, completely across the country. Bob was a boxer and coach in the Air Force, while Mac was a USMC sergeant and Vietnam veteran (although his father was a career USAF sergeant). If there was any familial link, one would expect Mac and promoters to capitalize on the connection. SI's January 1970 profile on Mac mentions nothing in connection with Bob.
Yeah, they're related..not sure where they're originally from, but Bob, Mac and their sister Jodie all seemed to turn out all right.
I would say no, but knowing the history, there could be a common connection somewhere down the line.You never know.
