After seeing the first Wlad fight, I do wonder whether Foster has the pop to keep Peter off. Foster was a scary puncher, but then, so was Wlad.

As far as fundamental boxing skills go, you're right. Foster was much better than Peter. Straight punches, greater offensive variety, and he was pretty mobile. More conscious of distance, too.

Agreed. Pretty interesting matchup. It's one of those easy Monday morning quartenack type of fights tho---the guy that wins does so easily. But a few days before the fight, it's very difficult to figure out which one it'll be.

That Foster career sure went downhill quick. I tend to think the bulk and size of Peter would see him backing up Foster and I don't think he can fight backing up. But he threw a nice sneaky left hook in there and this guy is definately getting hit with it. Good tough fight.

I think Mac can take this, perhaps with Peter contriving to lose it ? in a way both are probably most dangerous early, sprinters as it were, if a quick ko is not on then most would probably favour Peter, however he was never really impressive long haul, was we supposed to be impressed with his fights with Ration Man Toney ? i can help but think that perhaps his lack fine tuning condition wise might find him out, Foster did come in as fit as he could, he battered big Bepi ross for an 8th round stoppage, and kept pursuing Ali for 15 rounds, late in his career he went the distance in losing, it seems Big Mac never had the Shavers school of Stamina, i think he would keep working and Sam's condition over the long haul would ultimately let him down, Sam does not have the classy "Cut-Loose" combinations of Jerry Quarry so would be relying on the big punch landing, with Mac keeping him busy on his own account Sam might be a bit preoccupied in the early rounds...if it then becomes a Stamina Vs Stamina
contest my money would be on Ex Marine Big MacArthur Foster. Points probably

Nice post. I also go with Foster, probably by KO. After being KOed, Peter awakens in a confused state and asks "Who's Necks". His corner tells to hang on a minute and we will ask Mac.

Peter could take straight punches all night, but left hooks and uppercuts hurt him. Foster had a good left hook, so Peter is definetly getting rocked in this one if he times him with it.

I lean towards Foster, but Peter still has a shot at walking him down and forcing a stoppage. Peter had a good jab and left hook himself, when he was in shape and motivated.

I tend to favor Mac, who started out very impressively against Jerry Quarry, and did some good body work on an uncharacteristically aggressive Ali while surviving some rocky moments in a situation where Muhammad's hands didn't seem to be hurting him in the slightest. [Ali was heavy for him at 226, and not in the greatest condition, but he certainly wasn't preserving his right as he later did with Lubbers. Mac withstood a lot of punishment in that one.] The four decision losses he ended his career with were against some awfully skilled opponents.
