    Maccarinelli-Banks in UK!
Enzo Maccarinelli will enjoy home advantage in his fight for the vacant WBO world cruiserweight title challenge against Johnathon Banks after promoter Frank Warren won a purse bid for the fight. Warren put in a successful bid at the WBO's offices in Puerto Rico on Tuesday. Maccarinelli is aiming to recapture the WBO crown he lost against David Haye in March this year, and the Welshman was delighted when he heard the news about the purse bid. "Frank Warren has delivered for me again, and I can't wait to get back into action and win my title back. The loss to Haye was hard to swallow because I know I could have done better but that is in the past and I'm focused on getting back to winning ways again," said 27-year-old Maccarinelli. Banks is supposed to be the next big thing in America, but I'll cut him down to size." A date and venue for the fight will be confirmed at a later date.

Can anyone see a pattern emerging here:-

Home town fight + FW + WBO + Vacant title ???

    :patsch

This ain't for the WORLD title. How can someone sparked in two rounds fight straight away for the world title? There are more deserving fighters to get a crack than EM. :?

How many soft defences will EM be allowed before he has to face a dangerous mandatory?

Cut Enzo some slack DamonD. Banks has had a huge amount of hype over in the states and has been called alot of great things over there, he also has a mighty impressive KO rate and has fought a few decent guys. This fight should be really good and although I really want Enzo to win I can not currently pick a winner. Hopefully Warren will make this a top of the bill fight in Wales for the native's.

Don't like Enzo but why does he not deserve to fight for his old title. The only man who beat him has moved out of the division.

Yep. Ashame the rest of the current cruiserweight contender line up hardly thrills you with fighters who deserve the title fight.

Yeah but it sends the wrong message to other fighters. Get blasted out of the ring and get an immediate shot.

Perhaps it is because no bugger else wanted the WBO title, I don't know.

I have a lot of respect for ENzo because he has taken this fight. No doubt he could've fought another dozen Bobby Gunn's and Mohammed Azzouia's but he's come straight back from his most devastating loss to take on a highly rated and powerful American challenger. Even if he loses, this shows a lot of balls.

Who gives a **** about the WBO title? All I care about is that were gonna have a great fight on our hands here.

Can't really argue with this, so this should keep the haters at bay.

First fight back after getting clowned embarrasingly and he's straight in fighting for one of the big 3 against a decent, but entirely beatable opponent.

Agree don't care about any of the belts but this is a good matchup.
Enzo could have asked for an easier fight after Haye outclassed him.

This is a fight for a title WBO

he wants to get this WBO belt back so he can in his own words

"RECLAIM HIS PLACE AT THE TOP OF THE WORLD"

but is this enough to be considered undisputed NO 1 - no it is not

the Haye fight is a tarnish on his history - people now know he is not invicncible he was blasted out in front of everyone

how good is Jonathan Banks - debatable

Enzo needs the rematch with Haye to redeem himself and put on a better performance in the rematch

the last thing I want is Enzo to get the WBO belt back and my local paper be calling him the NO 1 in the World again
