Thats a bit harsh for only losing to the lineal, WBC and WBA CW champ to eject him from the top 10.

I agree with all that. Enzo mistakenly banked on having the power to KO Afolabi. Early on, Enzo was on shaky legs after he got tagged and I fancy Afalobi would finish it quicker next time.

I really don't know how you can say that when he clowned the guy, took his best shots, dragged him into deep waters and drowned him. It was a reasonably close fight up to the KO too, it's not like Enzo was out-classing the guy-quite the opposite I'd say, Afolabi was making Maccarinelli look stupid and ponderous at times. It was great to watch :D

I guess the bookmakers got it wrong at 8/1...it should have been 1,000,000/1!

Well then, it looks as though the KO loss was that 1 in a million time then.

You lost Enzo, get the **** over it.

He got knocked out by a superior boxer.

Macca sounds a right clown with all these excuses every time he loses. 'Afolabi is no Mark Hobson' :huh

Whenever Afolabi decided to get on his toes and stand back a bit to get some room for punches, he outjabbed and outpunched Maccarenelli who looked befuddled at times against a guy with such a mediocre record. Maccarenelli didn't have the sense to try and stand back a bit and find clear room for punches and didn't appear to be the superior boxer.

The only time he did allow himself some room was when he was exhausted after running out of ideas and got himself worn-down and KO'd in that round. Maccarenelli's tactics were to stand as close as possible, leaning his head on Afolabi's shoulder and winging away mindlessly. As Afolabi seemed lazy and not focused enough to win the fight at long-mid distance, Maccarenelli was winning the fight with his phone-booth tactics but even using them in the third he almost got floored.

I think Maccarenelli must've been wary of Afolabi's power from early on, which was why he was rushing in and crowding so close, so Afolabi couldn't get room to power-punch or outjab him. It was working on points because he was the come-forward agressor and landing more inside, but Afolabi hurt him more during the fight and when Maccarenelli was worn-out and tired from rushing in and getting caught to the body, he was brutally thrashed to the canvas.

In the remtach I'd pick Afolabi to be in better shape and more active and confident and outpoint or KO Enzo, but I wouldn't be surprised if Enzo crowds his way to a rushing Skelton-type win as it looked was going to be the case before the KO.

  11. Been a nice run for Adamek fans, huh? Cunningham puts (pedestrian) Huck into proper perspective. Adamek beats Cunningham. Jones takes care of (the ESB hyped) Arslan. Alexeev (hyped to the highest heavens by certain ESB "pundits") basically quits on his stool against Ramirez. Enzo crashes into complete tatters in two fights. And, Adamek beats Banks.

Adamek clearly the top of the cruiserweight division. An amazing and damn quick rebound after losing to Dawson.

    ---------

Meanwhile, Dawson continues to receive (ESB) flack as if he's unproven and not a great fighter.

Enzo is a nice enough guy, who works hard, but these excuses are empty. The reason he lost is because he's never actually been that good.
