Just read an interview with Maccarinelli, saying that he wants a shot at Adamek this year still. He said he already mentioned it to his promoter, and that he is willing to fight Adamek anywhere. I guess he has to get in line behind Hopkins, and Cunningham. This would be an exciting fight. Adamek takes it.
I would actually put him in the front of the line. Adamek may fight in the next 2-3 months again, Cunningham is busy with Big Truck and Hopkins probably will get remacth with Calzaghe first.
I posted those in that order, because that is the order I think Adamek would have these fights in, if he was to fight all 3 opponents. In order of interest/importance. Everybody wants to see a Cunningham rematch, but I think more people would want to see a fight vs. Hopkins first. The Macca fight would have fire-works.. depending on Adameks game plan, though. Which would likely be not to brawl it out I imagine.
I read somewhere that Adamek is shooting for June as a next fight date. I don't think Calzaghe will give Hopkins to rematch.. I see it kinda as what happened with Lennox and Vitali. JC knows he has nothing to really gain, and a lot to lose, and it would be a bad decision for him to rematch Hopkins. When is the date for Cunninghams next fight, if there is one? Either way, Adamek is the man to beat at 200lb. So if these guys want a shot at him, they will have to adjust. The Cunningham fight does seem to get in the way... maybe it would happen towards the end of the year/beginning of 2010. If JC doesnt give Hopkins a rematch, this is the fight that will likely take place around June. Then a Maccarinelli fight October/November, then Cunningham.. hmm Either way. Those are all gonna be some great fights.
nothing on boxrec yet so not earlier than in 2 months, then next 2-3 months for winner preparing against Adamek ... Adamek have time until July/August.
I like this fight much better than any other fight at CW. Macc's chin will not hold up to Adamek's power but it will be a good fan friendly fight while it lasts. I hope it gets made.
I agree and disagree. Enzo has done zero to get a shot and he has less profile in America than Banks, who was brutalised last Friday. On the other hand, Enzo is a powerful, talented boxer with good long range boxing skills.
Cunningham vs Wayne Braithwaite next who apparently is a good fighter which Macca beat comfortably, even though evreyone says he aint fought anyone which he has.
Adamek is no God, he needs to build up his legacy, Macca is former beltholder ho was beaten by Haye (no big shame in that) and form the long term point of view he is better opponent than Banks who while dangerous may not win anything spectaculat in his career.
