I do believe Enzo soiled the Setanta sofa that night.

I dont think so - cos he was pushing for the fight to happen then that night in the setanta studio.

I think he believed he could have knocked out Mormeck too so he seen Haye as doing what he could do to.

I believe Enzo was calm and relaxed laughing at the weigh in of the Haye fight - it was Haye who looked a bit distant and nervous then.

What I think was Enzo bricked it on the night.

    In the dressing room.

On the 100 mph run to the ring.

In the ring introductions and referee instructions.

And most crucially in the fight where he werent fighting with the same forward aggression that he usually does and was backing off from Haye.

I think he should have just gone for it - charge forward and try to take Haye out.

Because backing off from Haye he just swarm all over you - its the way he would like it.

If Enzo could have shown Haye he meant business but showing him no respect we could have been in for a real fight.

Haye was flattered by that fight - in a war i still think Haye will come apart.

Enzo showed him too much respect and that right hand that Haye caught him with at the begginning of his final onslaught if you notice Enzo was backing away in fear.

Lets remeber Enzo Maccarenelli told Steve Bunce he still considers himself a better fighter than David Haye despite suffering a 2nd rd knockout to him

What do people think of that comment?

    it shows he's delusional.

as much as i dislike enzo calzaghe and and his refusal to give haye any credit whatsoever, i do want macca to come back and do well - as long as he fights the best of the post-haye division

    As Enzo Calzaghe said it

It was nothing to do with Haye really

Enzo Maccarenlli just made a silly mistake

Haye - he is nothing - Enzo just made a daft mistake - otherwise Haye would have had a career ending beating

You on a wind up mate? Haye is just the better fighter. He'd beat Enzo 10 times out of 10. Face up to it, Enzo just isn't as good as Haye.

He was indeed, right up until the point that Haye knocked out Mormeck. The look on Enzo's face after the fight was priceless.
It was as if he was struggling with the reality that he might have to actually get in the same ring as David Haye.
He went from :toney, to :yikes, to :nonono, and it made very good viewing. I don't think he ever had enough confidence to beat Haye.

There was no way he was best CW in the world as he had only had 1 real fight (against Braithwaite).

I considered him a possible threat to a top 10 fighter, but not that he was the man to beat.

Most of my concerns re the Haye fight was about Hayes weight problems, not how good Macca was.

Flint Island - what you need to realise is that the reason Enzo never charged Haye, or followed some sort of game plan that would crush Haye easily, is because he was not good enough.

It's alright preparing to fight, but when the guy you are in against is faster, bigger puncher, good shot selection, good foot movement, your plan goes out the window. And you get knocked out.

who thinks the Haye fight might have damaged Enzo's confidence?

    maybe crushed his confidence?

made him question wether he really is the best in the world like he thought he was?

Enzo said he wont be gun shy - but what happens when he steps back in the ring again - not against some bum who he would beat easy - but against somebody capable of throwing some leather back at him - will he be gun shy???????

Does anyone else think by not naming a opponent for Enzo, Warren and co are trying to **** off the whole Calzaghe camp?. There is noway Joe leaving Warren wont effect the rest of the Calzaghe fighters, they will either be set up for beating's or just blanked.

Warren must be scouring his phone book of easy-touch opponents.
Get ready for the triumphant return of Willi Fischer!
