    Maccarinelli set for title tilt

Former cruiserweight world champion Enzo Maccarinelli is in line for another world title bout in September.
Maccarinelli's proposed comeback fight, originally slated for 19 July, was postponed because of television scheduling issues.

Instead, the Swansea fighter, 27, is being lined up for tilt at the WBO cruiserweight title he lost to London's David Haye in March.
Haye will vacate the title following his move to the heavyweight division.

The WBO had originally wanted their top two-ranked fighters, Jonathon Banks and Alexander Alexeev, to clash for the vacant title in September.

However, Banks beat experienced Italian veteran Vincenzo Rossito on Saturday in Germany and will not be ready in time for a 6 September fight.

Maccarinelli is ranked third by the WBO and is likely to fill the gap.

It's funny, when he lost to Haye I was saying that I expected him to have a chance to be WBO champion again before the year was out. But I didn't quite expect it to come this roundabout way.

Jeez although I would love Enzo to regain a title belt and some plaudits for his ability I think a jump straight back into title contention would be too soon for the big guy. Enzo could really do with a fight against an ok top 20 fighter and then a go at a title. Enzo has the ability to put up a good performance against just about all the top cruiserweights but lacks big fight experience against a series of solid opponents, pushing him into a title fight so quick will just lead to another short reign at the top.

And all the other cruiserweights out there. Kraj looks handy too but abit slow, him vs Banks would be very interesting.

Yep. dodgy them being willing to let a the previous holder of the belt at that weight fight for the title.

Nope but it does mean if he wins he'll be sitting at home making defences & not chasing unifications as normally happens with WBO "champs". Couldn't blame Enzo in this instance though considering what happened last time he chased some proper belts.

Good to see Enzo going for the most prestigous belt first and picking off the others later. Encouraging.

Hahaha Alexeev will KO him easily. Its no surprise its the WBO but I don't think Warren realises how good Alexeev is.

So a guy has a fight the beginning of July and won't be ready for a world title shot in September?

Was fighting Haye for all the marbles not considered 'chasing unifications'?

If Macca gets a chance at the title then good. I want another Brit on the world title scene. Macca has ability.
