Maccarinelli v Haye is on for March 8

I'd like to know where his reputation as a truly EXPLOSIVE puncher has come from too, given that he has 7 decision victories from 28 wins, the vast majority of whom have been graduates of 'The Tomato Can Club'. Relative to his opposition, he's also displayed a much worse chin than Haye.

Still, I think we need to congratulate 'Big Mac' on finally showing the sort of ambition Haye was after 10 fights. I can only imagine how scared and panicky he's going to look in the few seconds he lasts in his first proper title challenge - arms akimbo, I wager!

 

That's the type of person Warren is. What excuse will allegedly make up when Haye spanks Maccarinelli? Enzo is not in David's league when it come to talent, natural ability. Haye is the better fighter, has fought the more sterner opponents, etc.

Please, someone tell me, WTF has Haye got to prove at Cruiser? He beat the man who beat the man, so Haye has nothing to prove at 200lbs.

I can only assume the pursue for the fight was too lucrative to turn down, & that's why Haye has agreed to the fight at 200lbs. Hope Warren has no options on David at all.

Maccarinelli needs Haye, no the other way around! I'd be interested to hear what each fighters purse is for the bout? Surely Haye must be receiving a larger sum of money?

As stated, I'm worried about the weight making for Haye. Sure he might make the weight, but how much will it drain him? David says he has maintained his training since the Mormeck fight, but he was 213lbs on the night against Mormeck, a gain of 13lbs. Clearly, he struggles with the weight.

Haye will have to boil down, AGAIN, which is not good. I still think Haye will be too good for Maccarinelli.

Let the countdown to March 8th, 2008, begin! I do hope both boxers are respectful towards each other, rather than trash talkiing one another.

Nice! What a great present this Christmas...

I rate Haye as a better fighter, but the concern about making this weight could be a factor. He's going to need to have a very precise and accurate training schedule and camp.

I don't think it'll be bombs away, I reckon both fighters will be careful and patient, and work towards the right opening before they really let their hands go. And yeah, someone is going to take a pretty spectacular knockout!

Can't wait for this one.

 

It would be bad for boxing if Frank Warren has the cruiser with all the belts. I definitely would hope that Haye wins and takes that WBO strap away. He is a real fighter, willing to take risk to prove he's the best. Even if goes up to heavy, the WBO title will be vacated and up for grabs.

Stan James and Bet Direct already have odds up at 4/7 Haye, 5/4 Maccarinelli. Bet 365 have it 5/6 both fighters. Don't see that lasting too long.

Because it will make a hell of a lot more money than fighting somebody like Rahman

Plus it also proves conclusively that he is the best cruiser in Britain, and the world. Not that it should need proving, but Haye makes the fights the fans want to see

rahman could draw well. i guess since it's 2 brits the demand will be very high in euro. i feel the longer he puts off moving up and fighting credible hw opponents, the more difficult the transition will be. I wonder if he is just gonna stay at 200, wait for wlad to unify, then challenge him for 1 huge payday, undisputed cw champ vs. undisputed hw champ?

Haye is a risk taker, but even he is not that stupid

I wouldn't be suprised to see him take a bit of a leap after he knocks out Mac. Could easily see him fighting somebody like Peter

i would pay to see Haye fight povetkin, the 2 elite hw prospects. We would find out for sure who is the reall hw contender.
