According to BBC Sports website, Enzo Maccarinelli will defend his WBO Cruiserweight Title against Ezra Sellers on the undercard of Calzaghe v Kessler in Cardiff on Nov 3rd.

American Sellers, 39, only recently returned to the ring after taking 3 years out.

Maccarinelli had been hoping for an unification fight against Steve Cunningham but the IBF Champ opted for Tomasz Adamez in January instead.

Yes, this is a major disappointment. Warren must have been offering pennies to prospective Macca opponents considering how much he's paying Kessler & Calzaghe. Ticket sales can't be going too well.

Ezra Sellers is ranked number 15 by the WBO

After all the bluster about how Wilson is undeserving of a title shot they sign Sellers, who was a decent fighter in his day but has done nothing in recent times to even warrent a ranking never mind a shot a the title.

To be honest, there was no way Warren would pick Wilson for this date due to the fact he may possibly end up with 2 of his best cash machines on the end of defeats.

Personally i think Calzaghe will whip Kessler but i also think Wilson would have beaten Enzo.

    ****in ridiculousness!

gunn magically appeared in the top 15 just before macca faced him as well.

the only good thing i can see coming out of this is that macca might get rid of sellers in the 1st round and they can show another undercard fight. also, it means he might fight again sooner, hopefully against someone better.

i find it amazing that maccarinelli went on about wilson possibly not warrenting a shot at the title and then springing this defence on us.

    bastids!

    Agreed.

That's one reson I ditched SKy - got fed up of being fed **** fights like this. Now being served up to the Setanta subscribers.

Let's hope this Sellars guy still has one of those bombs that dropped Carl Thompson left in his locker.

I feel so embarrased about this fight. It even seems that Enzo doesn't really care that much which is the worst thing of all! Clearly, anyone who signs up with Warren needs to forget the big fights and be happy bumbling along and making a bit of cash.

I'm just waiting for the post fight interviews - "knowone wants to get in the ring with Enzo" etc

Hopefully the interviewer will have the balls to put Warren straight and call him out for such a **** poor match-up.

Can you imagine if Larry Merchant was doing the interview haha :hey

Enzo and Ezra are fairly similar names so it should be an even contest. Sellers sounds a bit like Stellar.
The term fraud is used far too often in boxing, but Enzo at this point in time is a fraud.

i've just read the article about this opponent on Frank Warren's site building up the opponent as a "hard-hitting monster" and proof macca wants to fight the best! everyone should spam the comments to make it clear that we aren't sold...

WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli is preparing for war after being paired with power-punching monster Ezra Sellers for his next title defence.

The 27-year-old Swansea fighter will meet highly-experienced KO specialist Sellers on November 3 at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in a fight to be televised live and exclusively on Setanta Sports.

It will be chief support to Joe Calzaghe's WBO/WBA/WBC super-middleweight world title match up with Mikkel Kessler.

Maccarinelli is currently 27-1 with 20 victories early, and has already made two defences of his WBO crown.

Sellers will be best remembered by British boxing fans for having Carl Thompson on the floor four times en route to a stunning fourth round KO in a cruiserweight world title victory.

And he also put defensive genius Johnny Nelson on the deck in a challenge for the WBO crown in Denmark.

Southpaw Sellers, from Washington DC, USA, has finished 25 of his 28 victims inside the distance.

"Wayne Braithwaite, my last opponent, was a dynamite puncher and it looks like I've got another big hitter in Sellers," said Maccarinelli.

"I've seen some of his knockouts and it makes for frightening viewing, but I'm confident I will win the fight and cement my position as the number one cruiserweight in the world.

"Although Sellers punches like a kicking horse, I think I punch harder, and that will give me the edge.

"Over the next 12 months I want to unify the cruiserweight division, and I'm not going to let Sellers shatter my dream.

"It's more than likely I'll have to go into the trenches like I did against Braithwaite, and I can guarantee all my fans I'll soak up his best and come roaring back twice as hard.

"With Calzaghe-Kessler on the top of the bill, it's going to be an amazing night for Welsh boxing."

Speaking from America, Sellers said: "Enzo's a great fighter but I'm not sure how good his chin is.

"We'll find out when I start landing my bombs on it, and he ain't going to be able to take my power.

"I regularly knock out heavyweights in sparring, so beating up Maccarinelli won't take me too long."
