http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8825&zoneid=13 2 completely different personalities. Rampage was a coach only last year, but then again who else can they have if they want Machida 1 of the coaches. I enjoyed Machida's parts on the 98 countdown show, as we got to learn more about him so it would be interesting to see him as a coach. If this turns out to be true, it will be a shame that we will have to probably wait till december to watch the fight. Didn't Rampage have a moan about the long wait after he lost to Forrest? O well, at least we all know what his excuse will be. :yep
Even though the promotion is good for business, the long delay hurts the fighters in preparation for their fights.
Looks like Rashad is going to take Machida's place as coach. atsch http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8853&zoneid=2
UPDATE: According to Sergio Non of USA Today, Jackson and Evans will fight in the traditional season-ending coach-vs.-coach fight sometime in December. Although Jackson was promised the first shot at Lyoto Machida's belt, which he won from Evans this past weekend at UFC 98, Machida will make his first title defense against an opponent to be named shortly. According to White, Jackson said his desire to coach against Evans was stronger than his desire to fight immediately for the title. :rofl Source: MMA junkie Looks like Shogun will get the title shot now. I want to see a Machida vs Shogun fight but I would have liked Shogun to have 1 more fight (maybe someone like Franklin if he beats Wand) before he faces someone like Machida.
WTF then who is Machida going to face in the meantime until next March or so when the winner of TUF 10 is ready ?
I think they've ****ed up by putting Rampage as a coach on TUF. He is essentially out of action for the next god knows how many months, while being the only really legitimate no.1 contender to the belt. They either have to shelve Machida for months or just grab a name out of nowhere and install them as the no.1 contender to the title. Everyone will know that the fight is bull**** and it will knock another guy down the rankings, screwing up any future fights. The UFC have been doing the same thing in the Middleweight division, shafting the fighters who actually deserve a shot and throwing in scrubs like Cote and Leites who don't deserve a shot and really don't have the ability to warrant a title shot nor challenge the champ in any way. The only division they seem to get right is the Welterweight division.
LHW has the advantage of being stacked, though. Shogun is a credible opponent, and a bigger challenge than Rampage in all probability.
What coming off wins over Liddell and Coleman? And looking frankly quite **** in the Coleman fight. I'm a fan of Shogun but at the moment he doesn't deserve a title fight, although he is a name opponent so no doubt he probably will get it. ****ing TUF shows!
Well he looked pretty great against Chuck, and it seems he's back, so it's the best fight they can make (and the one I most want to see in the division).
nooooooooooooo I want that Shogun take on Cane to see if he is really is back. **** put rampage vs machida!
