I have to go with Machida oe. Shogun has not looked that good since joining the UFC, and even in his fight with Liddell, he looked sloppy. Wide, looping punches aren't going to cut it against Machida.
Joe Rogan just stated Shogun had the lowest resting heart rate of any ufc 104 fighter tested yesterday, at a rate of 42. Maybe his stamina is back. He is going to need everything tonight. Machida is bigger, stronger, and probably faster. What am I suppose to say? If Machida wins I'll be shocked. Hardly, as Machida has multiple things going for him. Rua's aggression may make him easier for Machida to ko. Machida may be able to win from his back if taken down. Machida doesn't lose rounds, so will be difficult to outpoint. Maybe crazily, but I'm still taking Rua. Rua can be relentless. If anyone can impose his will to fight over the otherwise superior opponent, it is him. I'm taking Rua tonight.
