Puhlease. You must not remember who Shogun is! This is actually a VERY good fight. Shogun is a very diverse and dynamic striker who does better in the ring than he does in the cage. The rules over in PRIDE complimented his game very well. His at a few disadvantages here as he hasnt learnt to use the cage fully yet and id really like to see him utilize his ground game more, get his opponent to the mat and rain down those elbows Tito style. Im on the fence here though because i think his win over Liddell was quite flattering.
The zuffa title is irrelevant. Zuffa events are irrelevant. In significant mma news, Affliction Entertainment has announced Fedor, Barnett for August 1.
Machida by K.O. Shogun is not at the same level to stand with him, and I don't think he will catch Machida to take him down.
Probably the 2 most talented guys at 205, if anyone can beat Machida its Shogun. This fight will be a thing of beauty, a work of art. :happy
whoaaaatsch you must not have seen too many shogun fights cuz shogun used to be with chutebox who are known for their strikes. Shogun is pretty good with his striking to go along with his ground game. Wanderlei-Anderson-Shogun former chutebox fighters
I gave Evans a shot against Machida. I felt Machida was the safe pick in that fight, but I'm often more drawn to the unsafe choice. I think Evans earned respect by evolving as much as he has as a fighter, and the number of quality wins he has in his career. Machida is very gifted, and has already proven to be one of the sport's elite. If I am anywhere near accurate with my statement that Machida wants to be mma's version of Ali, he is off to a good start in staking his claim. I stated above that Evans could not pressure Machida the way Frazier did Ali. Shogun can press Machida. I believe that Machida is probably technically superior standing, and probably on the ground. The areas that I don't know how Machida stacks up with Shogun are in chin, will, and endurance. If Machida continues on his path to being mma's Muhammad Ali, then he should be capable of winning at least 2 of 3 against what could be he Frazier type rival in Shogun. Anything less, and we may have the first former Pride fighter to come and conquer in the UFC. Note: I heard that an injured Shogun took the fight with Griffin so he could pay for necessary career advancement surgery. I always place rumors like this in the might be true folder. After seeing the return to a leaner form against Liddell, the excuse may inching a little further to the true section.
I think Lyoto is friends with Shogun. I think he'll knock him out early to save Rua from embarrassment
Absolutely not. Evans is better than Shogun. Shogun looked sloppy even with the punch that Koed Chuck. Evans is the second best LHW. Machida already has fought his Frazier, the undefeated Thiago Silva and he treated him just as he treated Rashad, not worthy. This guy was destroying Franklin and dominating Bonnar 4 years ago when he was just learning MMA. That alone should tell you what this man is destined for.
Machida doesn't show any weaknesses thus far. Shogan has weaknesses and questionable stamina. No contest. Machida is just too NOW.
4 yrs ago bonnar was a nobody and Franklin wasn't a name at that time. None the less Machida has come a long way quickly and will give anybody hell.
