Macklin calls Dan Rafael out of the blue?

Interesting terminology. Personally I find the term "Plastic Paddy" very disrespectful.

Would you call Khan a "Plastic Paki"? a mock him for having a hint of an Asian accent?

 

Did'nt say he was did i ? But when you talk with a forced irish accent and your born in brum, raised in brum and fight out of brum all your life it's safe to say hes a plastic. Both my parents are irish, most my friends are irish descent and thats what we call an english man with a forced irish accent. Theres absolute no malice what so ever, my friends are also friends of his and hes had it ripped out of him for it. When we start talkin in 1/8ths mate its best left:good

Only on occasions. I've lived over here for over 15 years, many in the Irish community have a twinge of an Irish accent. Its only natural if you grew up in a household with Irish accents, spend your holidays and summers in Ireland, hang around with people in the Irish community, play for a Gaelic team etc etc etc.

Calling him a Plastic Paddy and saying his accent is "forced" is, in my mind, disrespectful not to mention wrong.

Each to their own and all that but I thought it was unnessesary.

Give it a rest SBW. I agree that if Macklin considers himself Irish then he's got every right to, but don't give us the offended pish.

 

I never said I was Finbarr O'Fended my Govan friend. I said I thought it was disrespectful. It is. There is a big difference.

 

Lighten up a bit mate.Macklins a nice lad, i would'nt be saying it with badness. I'm out with him and mutual friends every now and again and he gets the **** ripped out of him and its friendly banter with him and his friends, this is nothing.

I do think he lacks personality infront of a camera repeating himself in interviews, but off camera hes good craic :nut

 

all joking aside someone could be living in the states or britain and their three generations out of ireland however because their part of a vibrant irish community they identify strongly with that community perhaps even more so then people who were born in ireland. there is no particular yard stick you can measure it by, you cant argue that someone who is half irish or 1/8th irish or whatever is any more irish then anyone else.

interestingly this issue only seems to arise with the irish, i don't see anyone having a go at rendall munroe for having a jamaican flag on his shorts.

What the **** is the problem? Why are so many people offended by Macklin's nationality?

 

It is laughable that anyone thinks some no-mark like Macklin is going to get a shot at a guy who has managed to get himself to the level where people are discussing him getting megafights
