if macklin wins it means that rose has no chance against any of the domestic level middleweights if macklin loses he needs to retire.

I guess this is one of the rare times when Fast Car say "it's a 50/50" and it actually is. IMO if it was Mat Macklin from 4 years ago it would be a completely different story - it's a shame Macklin's performances have dropped off at such a dramatic rate.
Really, that much that you put him 50-50 with Rose? No shame in any of his losses since Moore. Heiland is pretty underrated and would scramble Rose's brains.
Yes I would say the fight is pretty evenly balanced. Odds are available with PP with Brian Rose 5/6 and Mat Macklin 1/1.
