Macklin seems to be overlooking Barker a bit.

Coming out with stuff like he expects to blow barker away and that he isn't in his league and most worringly i think is that in any of his recent interviews he is referencing barker's performance against belgencham to much whilst crediting himself with the asikainen and elcock wins to much. Has asikainen become some sort of standard bearer for middlewight's climbing the ladder?:huh, in his peak he went 1-1 with sylvester the weakest titleist at present, who was gifted a decision against a near 40 year old in his last fight. Barker will be Macklin's toughest opponent to date, moore included. I've no doubt about that.

I dont think Barker is a tougher fight than moore. I dont think Barker has fought anyone on european level before. The fight against belgencham was close, whereas andy Lee and njikam both handled him comfortably. I dont see anything other than a macklin stoppage win

N'jikam beat him easily yes but sorry i dunno what fight you were watching if you think lee was comfortable against belgencham, the fight was much closer than the cards suggested and from what i remember from rounds 8-10 lee was on his bike, blowing heavily and got tagged quite a bit especially in the 10th.

lee was shaky for the last minute, that was it. Handled him comfortably throughout the fight whereas he gave barker a lot of trouble. I genuinely dont see where all the hype around barker is coming from.

Lee hammered belghecham for nine rounds , i was ringside and lee got caught with a very nice left hand in the last 10 seconds and that was all belghecham connected with the whole fight.
Belghecham couldnt miss barker their whole fight. Lee is a different class to barker and is much more powerful than him.
Id i have no doubt macklin will expose barker.

But again your placing to much emphasis on the barker-belgencham fight, barker tried to make a statement early doors then realised he wasn't gonna get rid of him and admittedly he tired, but still won. I don't think macklin's career best win over asikainen is as relevant as you think either. I think macklin should be preparing for the best darren barker cos i'm certain barker is preparing for the best matt macklin.

Barker took that fight at 3 weeks notice. if your judging him on that performance your way off the mark.

No doubt it will be a great fight anyway In 18 months this division could potentially be the best, these 2,jacobs,golovkin,n'jikam,lemieux,geale and im sure sturm and martinez will still be around

He shouldn't do, they're very similar level fighters. As long as Barker's chin isn't pure glass on a boxing level he'll be fine because Macklin is seriously nothing special.

What dont you rate bout macklin lads ?? I think hes pretty complete for a domestic/european level fighter... Good chin, good dig, sneaky puncher, heart....I just dont think hes the brightest outside the ring and thats why his career is not far off a joke imo...Theres more potential on the world scene with mack than there is with barker.....We have'nt seen any of the above with barker have we. Or am i missing something

Whats to rate about Macklin? He's just an average fighter when you start thinking in world terms. He's a tidy fighter don't get wrong, he doesn't do anything awfully he's just not fantastic in any area either. His power is also completely overrated because he knocked out a guy with a questionable resistance to punches.
