Come on mate. sticking with a promoter long term is the usual recipe for success. I guarentee if Macklin has stuck with ****** his whole career he would have got a world title fight in Ireland or Birmingham a long time ago.

Either way I like DiBella. A good fight for Macklin would be Peter Manfredo Jnr on the Froch vs Ward undercard. If Showtime don't show it, at least Sky Sports will.

Yeah i have to agree, its not a good thing to be changing promoters all the time, it sends out the wrong signals. Also, I always feel a good fighter needs as much stability in their lives to succeed, promoter being one of them. A promoters job is not just to promote the next fight or two, its to promote the fighter to such a level that there is a long term plan involved. How do you do that if a fighter keeps going from one to another?

Why did Barker **** off from Hennessey when he needed him the most then? Because sometimes you gotta do what you feel is right for yourself, thats why.

My main issue with this is that Macklin might be tempted to leave Gallaghers now and go to some NYC gym.

So no Sturm fight then. I guess he will take his 'moral' victory and move on.

I hope he gets banjo'd in his next fight

Why is he wasting his time with Macklin?

HaHa if he moves trainers again that will be taking the biscuit.

Barker left Hennesey as he didn't have a TV deal at the time and his career was not progressing. Clearly his career has progressed considerably since he made the move.

Macklin has jumped from one to another and his profile has not gone up.

    Ifs, ands and buts!

    He didnt!

Thats loss could have been the best thing to ever happen him.

He gets the cred for the win and isnt tied into the onerous options he would have had to comply with if he actually won. :deal

Macklin is out to get the best deal possible for himself and why not you only get one career and it can potentially end at any time. The only thing I would say is jumping ship makes it hard for a promoter to commit to him. Who wants to give him a world title fight if they know if he wins he will probably run off with somebody else.

So after being robbed once, you hope he gets beat next time just because he doesn't want to just sign his career away to Felix Sturm?

This is clearly a good move for Macklin. He's been unlucky in that no-one's really promoted him properly yet and you can't blame him for getting impatient.

Rob said that FW would have got him a world title shot by now, but he didn't. Frank didn't give a toss about Macklin. He only wanted Macklin because he hoped he could get a piece of Macklin/Barker and when he realised that wasn't gonna happen he just let Mack fight your standard European journeymen at the end of his cards.
