That's because anybody that knows Asikainen and has watched his fights knows once hes buzzed he is a sitting duck. He doesn't recover. It could have gone on but there was not a hope in hell of Asikainen recovering.
Looks like we better be hoping for some good undercard fights or picking out the fittest bird sitting ringside
Yep if the ref steps out of the way after the 2nd KD Macklin just walks forward and smashes Asikainen back to the deck with the next couple of punches he throws.
And that is why you don't trade hooks with your other hand down. Macklin hit him with a peach there. I think stoppage was fair...couldn't see him getting out of round. Macklin looks a brand new fighter under Joe Gallagher
He'd be allright with Sylvester. That would be a good fight, better than this. I doubt SS or his handlers at least will want it having seen that. Pavlik would murder him though, lets be frank. He'd decimate Macklin in a few rounds.
I thought the fight could have gone on a little longer. He looked steadier on his feet after the second knockdown than he did after the initial one. In all likelihood, Macklin would have landed another right hand and it would have been over, but he earned the right to carry on when he got up. Shame really. Great left hook though.
