Macklin needs a good win here. If he wins impressively it will put him back in the title chase, plus add spice to to an already exciting British Isles 160lb scene. The fight should be exciting. heiland has better feet than Macklin and is an award southpaw, but he gives away a lot of chances and is very open at times. Macklin should be able to capitalise on this and Matt does hit hard. Hopefully their styles gel for a good exciting scrap.
Yes there is. Heiland is an exciting high workrate Argentinian southpaw, fit and young and has reasonable power too. Macklin can't afford to have one of his off-nights here.
The one they call Triple G took Macklin's soul and he's never getting it back; the last big fight he'll be involved in will be against Andy Lee with nothing but Irish pride at stake.
^ A) That fight should have happened ages ago (I'd still be interested in it though) B) That'll be Mack's last big pay day, IMO.
Heiland looks to have a VERY porous defence. He gives away too many chance when he opens up throwing caution to the wind. I know you can say pretty much the same about Macklin. But if Heiland forgets to use his faster feet, Macklin should get enough chances to win this one IMO.
What's heilands chin like. I know he's never been stopped but anyone know if he has been rocked or anything? I'm doing a double with spike o Sullivan to win on points and Macklin to win on points or ko. Dunno which one yet. I'm leaning towards points.
Macklin can't count on stopping this guy IMO. He seems solid. Unless Macklin lands an Asikainen-type bomb on this guy, or he lands one on MAcklin, I feel it's going to points one way or the other. :bbb
Rocked and dropped plenty of times by domestic level journeymen - but that is just a product of the way he fights, and not a reflection of his toughness. If his chin was even as bad as just average he would already have a couple of stoppage losses by now, with his style of fighting. He gets hit by shots he doesn't see, because he just goes to war. Anybody is going to get rocked or dropped eventually when doing that. He recovers instantly, though, and comes back punching hard.
