rte player should have it same as the rest of the fights. I think its usually decent quality stream (barring Dunne v Poonsawat when half of Thailand tuned in) but you may want to turn down the sound and do your own commentary

Jimmy actually used to commentate on the Olympics, and he was gutted when they were discontinued in 393 AD.

Every time I watch the fights on RTE Magee comes out with something so surreal I end up watching through my fingers he is the David Brent of fight commentators.

i know, its got the point that he cant even fake his way through the fights. he is a nice old man but displays cringworthy naivety during the fights and also repeats some ridiculous cliches with non-relevant comparrisons.

hes good for comedy value tho. they should get george hamilton to do it

    'Danger Here !!!'

In a way I do like Jimmy though. I mean what he says is complete bollocks, but it is entertaining and from that point of view he's living up to his job. Anyone want to quote that gem from the Lee v Gibbs fight, about the cruise.

What about Jim Rock entering the ring.

"here he comes, the Blue Panther" - decked in fĂșckin pink as well as if that wasnt enough of a giveaway.

Or Andy Lee's last fight "Andy Lee, with or without the beard, a dangerous fighter"

Yeah the beard one is my favourite. What was he thinking when he said that?

Its a typical RTE syndrome anyway. Once you get a job you are there for life. Unfortunately they tend to give talentless ****s jobs and some are so talentless that even 30 + years of watching sports isn't enough for them to learn their trade.

Look at the likes of Tony O'Donoghue and George Hamilton for another example. Neither man has a clue about football.

Same goes for the Irish written press. Most of the lads who are writing about the game know **** all too.

Anyway, back to the point. How much better would it be if we had shot of Jimmy. He really puts a major downer on the boxing that gets shown over here. I know people complain about commentators on every channel but he talks so much bollocks it actually detracts from they enjoyment. usually I'd be at the fights so I wouldn't have to listen to him but on nights like tonight when I can't go i really dread listening to him

Yeah i know exactly what you mean. there was a petition to get him to retire after the last world cup.

I do be embarassed when my mates from the states watch the fights...
