Any chance of Matt Macklin fighting Craig McEwan on the Khan undercard? A good chance for McEwan to fight in Britain while Roach is in town with Khan.
No offence to Macklin, but the Vera win means that McEwan has moved onto a different level. After beating Vera, fighting Macklin could only be viewed as a backwards step. Its a fight that doesnt make sense, to McEwan anyway.
dunky i watched both guys spar in glasgow when maklin was being trained by myself and imo maklin more than had the measure of craig, although craig to be fair was much younger.
Why would McEwan comeover to take macklin?his win over Vera will push his status in america up a bit,and a fight with Macklin wouldent make sense as proberly no one in america has heard of him . Also aswell, there seems to be this suggestion from some ppl that Craig is wanting to fight over here...and its quite the opposite...he is quite happy fighting in America and is not intrestead in fighting over here anytime soon ...i know this i have intervied the laddie twice and i have aksed him .
i really think macklin can go a long way in the sport....imo vera is **** he got lucky with lee although i have not seen mcewan fight much.he doesnt seem to heavy handed. i think if macklin was to improve his defense he would spark the scot out
mc ewan will get x 10 as famous and make x10 money in america this guys great skills, fit, tough and can take a punch and i think in about mid late 2010 pav and AA will have moved up to super mid and sturm has said he might follow so there will be a lot of belts for mcewan, macklin, barker, gevor, paul williams, andy lee, jacobs and matt korobov (anyone else) to fight for. lots of good fights there
a friend of mine is good mates with stephen bendell and apparently hes one of 2 names in the hat for the fight against macklin at the o2
The other is Matthew Thirlwall. I can't exactly see how McEwan has put himself above Macklin by beating Vera. Macklin is a far superior fighter to Vera and imo on the verge of World Class. I think Macklin defending his British title against McEwan would be perfectly reasonable, however I don't see it happening.
Can't see it happening, they are on the different paths. Macklin is at the top of the domestic class and is likely to fight the likes of Barker in the future before looking towards European honours (if he wins) McEwan is pretty much an international fighter that happens to be British. He's more likely to fight a Rubio or somebody like that when he steps up a level rather than coming back for a crack at the British title.
This would be a hell of a fight. I reckon McEwan would have the skillset to beat Macklin however if Matt can drag him into a war then you never know what could happen.l
:goodSame reason Buchanan preferred the States whilst Jim Watt fought this side of the pond...it would be an interesting fight though
