I reckon macklin lost that fight, took a load of punches ok not always clean but very easy to hit, Welborn commanded centre of the ring and outworked him. Macklin did land some good counters and clean punches but didnt do enough for me. Paul Smith's scoring was ridiculous and totally biased. Definately time to retire he's never winning a world title at any weight.
macklins been in some serious wars, i worry for his long term health if he steps up again and inevitably takes another beating
People are being total drama queens about Macklin. He was quite impressive, certainly nothing to worry about.
He took very few flush shots, (for a change!). Mind you- you'd have to be looking at the fight with an 'educated' eye to pick up that sort of detail...also he came out of it relatively unmarked (bear in mind Matt fair Irish skin means unfortunately that he bruises up if he turns over in bed!)
He fought a kid who had just moved up from welterweight who wasnt a massive puncher at that weight. Also the fact he was getting caught clean by a lad whos best win is at area level isnt a good sign.
Macklin is going to get himself hurt if he's not careful- he got worked by Heiland..he can try to fool himself all he wants about being tired but it's all BS. And as for Wellborn he's area level and he even struggled against him - hang them up.
