Macklin-yebes this weekend.

I watched it a couple of days ago on Youtube. It was easy to see that Macklin is a couple of levels above Yebes but he failed at getting the control of the fight. He fought well at bursts but was not able to command. He had the better footwork, fastest hands, more power, but it lacked the will... he was getting hit too many times by a C class man.

Maybe it was just ring rust... but looked like something was missing there... maybe just bad shape... maybe lack of motivation...

I like Macklin but i've never been high on him since he fought Rubén Varon. All this **** around MGM marbella, jamie moore, kavanagh... does not look a good thing for Macklin.

 

I agree with this. Also I take back my previous post when I said I thought he was 50 50 with both Cotto and Murray. He'd been inactive for 6 months after losing to GOLOVKIN. But it gies without saying that he took a pasting. Then 9 months between Lamar Russ and Yebes. But he performed well against Russ,who was,in my opinion,far better than Yebes,not to mention a lot younger. That last fight might just be the turning point in his career. No comparison with the boxer who went even steven with Sturm,whatever the decision. Maybe he's just gone over the top,maybe its running his own gym. Maybe George Groves should take note.

It was not impossible to give Yebes three rds... 77-75. I agree Macklin won, but he was not solid. It seemed that he lacked the willigness to go forward and smash that part-time-boxer...:huh
