I was as good a fighter as any, never to be lucky to win a title. I made my city very popular in my career. Why I even fought Babe Ruth.! Who am I ?
P.S. No not Sam Langford or Charley Burley....

JD ,correct you are...Billy Petrolle from Fargo, called the Fargo Express was a great fighter who fought 9 titleholders, but never won a title. And he lost to Babe Ruth, March 2, 1925...:hi:

I agree that it must be The Fargo Express.

Interestingly, Jack Sharkey also fought nine champions and as "The Boston Gob" made an obscure village up in New England famous. He didn't fight Babe Ruth, though.

Truth IS stranger than fiction. When Babe Ruth fought Ty Cobb, there was no referee. Just the umpire.:patsch
