39 year old Mads Larsen (51-3) attempts yet another comeback when he faces the tough Italian Lorenzo Di Giacomo (41-6) on the in Herning, Denmark on the second of June. This will be Larsens first fight since his defeat to Magee in January 2010. A very tough comeback fight, but Larsen havnt got time to waste either, so it is good matchmaking. I dont think Larsen has enough left, even for this. But we see. Currently on the undercard: Cecilia Braekhus (19-0) - Jessieca Balogun (22-1) for Braekhus´ WBA,WBC and WBO Welterweight Titles. Braekhus was meant to fight Anne Sophie Matthis in March, but unfortunately got tonsilitis. Mathis now have a Holly Holm on June 15 instead. Hopefully Cecillia fights the winner in the fall. Former Contender participant Ahmed Kaddour (24-2-1) returns to Denmark after another (this time very short) stint in the US. He faces the dreaded TBA. Suprised that Sauerland wants him back, but I suppose they need all the Danish fighters they can muster. Kaddour at least had talent, but has been wasting it away. Also lost to the two best fighters he faced (Hmm, that reminds me of someone..) had a three year break from 06-09, and doesnt always seem committed to boxing. This is his last chance if he wants to be anything.
Kaddour is a loudmouth with nothing to show for it. The best that can happen to him is to be knocked out by a nobody, so he can focus on figuring out, if theres anything out there he has a talent for. Boxing aint it..
Too bad that there aren't more good boxers in Denmark, when there is actually fan and media interest enough to sustain a good handfull or two of stars. Mads Larsen should no longer be a top name at this point, though of course he deserves a chance to go out with a win.
He gave effort verses Magee. But I doubt he'll be anything better then a Euro level guy, Wish he'd stay retired. I am backing Di Giacomo to win this. He bet Weber IMO. Larsen is done. Kaddour will end up like Hassan Al and Zam Zam - blinded by their stupid ghetto followers.
He was troughly outclassed there. Larsen is at least 10 years from his prime. Sad thing he lost to Ottke (Ofcially at least) and never got many other big fights got injuries, refusement of amount money offered. And for a period he was too fat for SMW when close to an eliminator fight.. Larsen showed class by beating Danilo Haussler for the EBU-title only a month after the Otkke fight. I had that Di Giacomo beating Weber, and I too think he takes this. Markussen - Larsen should happen too.
