    Here's the full quotes;

    "It was brick hard. It was deliberate, but on whose part? I don't know, ...For all I know the corner could have been wrapping it that way for all of his fights, and Margarito could have been just as surprised as anybody that it was wrong. As you fight the natural cushion in the gloves wear down, so by the later rounds you're basically getting hit with that plaster in there. That kind of stuff is ridiculous. When he opened it up, a little square block of old wet gauze packed real tight came out. It was like it had plaster on it. I think it had an old dried up blood stain on it."

    In no way is Richardson contradicting himself. I said the material was brick hard and described it as old wet guaze packed real tight. The two descriptions aren't mutually exclusive. Old wet guaze packed real tight can be brick hard. As far as his comments regarding Margarito, he's probably just trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. That doesn't mean his lying.

    Here's what Mosley's lawyer, Judd Bernstein said;

    "It looked to me like the kind of thing that if the fight went on when (Margarito's) hands got sweaty and it would harden so it would feel like a cast,....I can only imagine what Cotto is thinking now. I've never seen somebody not working out sweating as badly as the guy who was wrapping Margarito's hands when this was going on. It was like they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar."

    Bernstein also said the blocks felt like plaster of paris.

    Dean Lohuis, the co-interim executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, told Yahoo Sports that both pieces of the plaster-like material were slipped in underneath the legal tape that was already placed on Margarito’s hands by his trainer Javier Capetillo.

    If you look at my opening post, you'll see quotes from Margarito's manager who admits that there was hardened material found in the wraps. He claims it was done on accident

    Be interesting to see what comes out. I've had my hands wrapped in sparring and been in the locker room prior to fights and never come across preparing a gauze especially 2 weeks before a fight. Anybody out there know of this happening?

    After reading all about this Margarito plaster handwrap controversy, I checked out the Cotto-Margarito fight again on youtube, and I was kinda wincing everytime Cotto got hit with nonstop flurries to the head and body. Like getting beaned by a pitcher, for 3 minutes straight, all night long.

    I kinda remembered the "soap bar in a sock" scene in "Full Metal Jacket".

    Good point Bula. Also watch the 2nd round again and notice how Cotto twisted his body like a worm after getting hit with the body on the ropes. I remember thinking to myself, man its kind of early in the fight for a body punch to have that kind of effect you know. However I will not pass judgement until the investigation is completed because as I said yesterday in another thread for all we know this could basically be another trick out of the Hopkins' mental tricks book.....:yep
