Magdaleno-Gonzalez is the best matchup of the weekend, and deserves some chatter (and a vcash line here). The bookies have it as nearly even, with Magdaleno a slight fave. How do you guys size this one up? I'm leaning towards Gonzalez. He could simply outbox the mover Magdaleno, but if he can't he should be able to be the agressor, back Magdaleno up and open him up, and outland him. Magdaleno couldn't keep the slower Rocky Martinez off him for most of their fight, I doubt he can dominate the tidier Gonzalez with speed.
Its a toss up, I think Diego will win by UD, but if Gonzalez pulls off the KO that wouldn't shock in the least. Its a good competitive match.
Magdaleo UD12 I like Diego, he is skilled but just lacks power, thinking he can outwork Gonzalez He shoulda got tha win over at 130 against the Puerto Rican
Hmm, both of you seem to be suggesting that Gonzalez can't win a boxing match, and doesn't have much more than a puncher's chance. That Magdaleno will outbox him as long as he doesn't do anything foolish. I don't know. How was Magdaleno getting pushed out of his game and rocked so much by a slow as molasses Martinez? Won't it take a bit of pop too to stay away from Gonzalez for most of the fight? Please tell me more I need a convincing case to not bet on Gonzalez.
Its a Top Rank card and Diego is a Top Rank fighter is that a good enough reason not to bet on Gonzalez.
I stuck with my small play on Gonzalez. Magdaleno could win with movement and activity, but though he has the clear edgein speed it's not so huge that Gonzalez can't figure him out and have success boxing on the outside too.
It's enough that I made it smaller than I wanted to. But Gonzalez as an underdog makes it fun to watch anyway...
Yeah I don't trust Arum enough to bet against his fighters especially on cards produced exclusively by Top Rank.
Which reminds me I was on Burgos huge when he was robbed vs Martinez. But... Martinez was given decisions because Puerto Rico needed a star... or something... so Gonzalez the Puerto Rican could get a close call tonight?
Maybe. Personally I'm hoping for a stoppage win for Gonzalez because even though I usually root for Mexicans I think both of the Magdaleno bros are hypejobs.
