Magee decides not to challenge Paul Smith

Where next for Smigga?
Groves?? Degale?? Dilks?? Anderson?? Quigley/Dodson again??

He has to be moving on from the british scene.

Vacate the british, and go after Stieglitz now i reckon.

I feel for Smigga i really do, as soon as things seem to be pushing on this happens to him. He got his break winning the British, and seemed ready to push on against Magee then maybe Stieglitz if he won.

There must be something bigger in the pipeline for Magee for this to happen.

 

I agree for several reasons.

1) Warren has a lack of star power in his stable. Paul Smith for a World title sells big in Liverpool.

2) I would call Smith vs Anderson/Groves 50-50 fights. I would call Smith vs Stielgritz a 60-40 fight in the germans favour. He might as well risk the fight with Sieilgritz and make some cash. he can come back to domestic level after a loss for a world belt. If he loses to Anderson or Groves he is effectively done.

3) Frees up a belt for DeGale without fighting Groves.

 

I actually mean't for Magee. But either way. Think Magee could already be being lined up for him though!!!

 

Hattons won't be able to get a world title shot thats not mandatory.

 

Paul will get a wold title shot with or wothout Magee and that's the difference in having a top promoter it really is, I think Magee's team are little out of order in leaving it so late for Paul cos his team could have concentrated on something else.. Paul will get something soon though..:good

 

He's not even been the British champ for a year! So two victories and he's done at British level is he?

I've noticed Kelly Pavlik has leaped above him in the WBO rankings. With all the other fighters ranked ahead of him involved in the super six, Smith might be dependant on Pavlik pursuing other options (i.e Bute).
Pavlik might see Stieglitz as a route back to world title status; if so Smith will have to wait a while longer yet.

Agree with you about the call being so late though. And say what you like about FW but he is the numero uno!!!

he is set to make a defence of his title in september in belfast then probably a world title shot at steiglietz , magee has more of a chnce at a world title then smith imo as he is european champion

Problem is, as a famous media man once said to me, it is illegal to pay for anything in Liverpool. Hayemaker fight there had about 1000 paying punters and 6k liggers.

unfortunately for the promotors, bunking in is an absolute doddle at the echo arena
