I assume Brian Magee was paid to vacate in order to save the show as there was a ready made replacement in Quigley. The reports state about Magee acting gentlemenly and doing the right thing, but getting injured is one of those things and bearing in mind the earning capacity of a champion compared to an ex-champion vacating is not something one would do lightly. He would be a mug to simply give his title away For Rhodes there was no ready made replacement on the bill, and hence Small did not get the same opportunity of a vacant fight that was given to Dodson. And obviously Rhodes was not paid to vacate. I am not a fan of Interim titles, but the above and Kell Brook last year do create arguments for having interim belts at british level
There wouldnt be a need for interim belts if boxers fought there mandos and the alphabets and british boxing board of control used common sense.
