James DeGale - Good performance, did exactly what he had to d and didnt hang around for overtime. A

Lukas Konecny - Came in to a foreign country and took the title. Hung with a big puncher and took him out. B


Nathan Cleverly - Although he still has holes in his game, he basically dominated a guy that was pretty much even with him. A+


Kell Brook - Was looking good, the result was a bit of an anti climax but he did what he had to do. B



Derek Chisora - Impressed me, kept a high pace for a Heavy and battered Sexton. A



Alexander Frenkel - Maybe was abit overawed by Enzo but stuck in there and took him out. A+ for perseverance, overrall a B

Matt Macklin - Did what he had to do with a routine defence (well not really) B


Losers

Carl Dilks - Didnt get a chance really. So cant give him a grade.



Matthew Hall - Gave it his all, and fought his heart out. For a guy who is 'limited' he has sure done well for himself, and he is still green, he has potential. Koncesky was world class and Hall pushed him close IMO. A+

Karo Murat - Stangely subdued, seemed over awed. But started to come on in the mid-rounds but he was too slow. C



Michael Jennings - Didnt get a chance to get going but did some nice boxing. B



Sam Sexton - Very subdued and uninterested performance. Blew his big chance. D



Enzo Maccarinelli - Boxed well and gave his all but let down by his chin. He is still by man. A

 

Winners
James DeGale - Classy. Good speed, very accurate tonight. Can't fault him. Shame Dilks didn't really back up his talk about going into the later rounds. Next - Groves...why not.


Lukas Konecny - Solid. Basically that describes everything about Konecny. Good inside and at midrange. Lacks footwork. Would struggle against anybody that moves, like Ryan Rhodes, so the change of opponent was a blessing for him. Dunno whats next, guess he might as well defend while he looks for a title shot. Nobody is going to want to fight him though, not because he's a scary proposition but...why would you fight him?



Nathan Cleverly - Excellent. Tremendous offensive variety, capped off by that trademark uppercut. Fast, athletic, good engine, showed toughness and strength which we doubted somewhat. Performance of the night for me. Should look for a title shot anywhere now, I think he's ready.


Kell Brook - Meh, did the job without getting out of first gear. The circumstances were a shame, he seemed to be just letting loose when Jennings was cut. Not ready for a world title shot, needs more opposition of this ilk. I'd like to see him banjo Hatton I must confess.

Derick Chisora - Just behind Clev for performance of the night. Best showing of his career by far. Moved his upper body REALLY well. He was an old school, short heavyweight tonight, the sort of which we never see these days hence why nobody can get past the Klits jab. Wore Sexton down inside. I just think he lacks power for world class as much as I love the guy. He has the skills but you need power at heavy. Next - Tyson Fury would be sublime.

Alexander Frenkel - I have to say I wasn't that impressed. He got the result he wanted but apart from the first round and the finish he didn't impress hugely. He went a little gunshy under pressure. Did show some good defence, but nothing to write home about really. Certainly wouldn't put him in Lebedev's class. He should fight Lebedev, or Huck, in Germany.

Matt Macklin - Keep busy fight, nothing to say about this really.


Losers

Carl Dilks - Outclassed, disapointed he couldn't stand up to more punishment than he took. May as well look for domestic fights for a few paydays.

Matthew Hall - Fine performance. Didn't do a lot wrong at all and was largely competetive. Problem was he was fighting himself, but more durable and well schooled. Retirement would be a good decision, I don't see him as having the style to win easy money domestically. He's going to take punches all the time and they all add up.

Karo Murat - Disapointing for me. Showed very little. Basically Arthur Abraham with mediocre power which is not a good look at all. Just got smashed really. Only positive he can take is he's tough. Probably will have to rebuild by padding his record in Germany.

Michael Jennings - Difficult one to analyze. Did a good fly impression, he was a pest in there but nothing more. Seemed outclassed and probably wouldn't have minded too much at getting cut considering Brook was starting to let punches one. I don't know what he does now to be honest?

Sam Sexton - Disapointing for me. Didn't show anything that he's good at. Usually he's strong on his feet with a nice jab and handspeed but we saw none of that. A lot of credit to Chisora for cutting him down and moving his head to get inside but Sam didn't make it at all difficult to do. Has terminal stamina issues it would seem. I don't know where he goes now...

Enzo Maccarinelli - Same old same old. Was winning but took too much chances in doing it and it cost him eventually. Looked alright but he got sparked so what does it matter. Retire.

 

DeGale v Dilks - Very impressive from DeGale. Backed up what he said prefight about being levels above Dilks although the stoppage was poor. Speed looks good and the 'slapping' issue looks to be eradicated.

Hall v Konecy - Great little entertaining fight, was glad that Warren put this together after the Rhodes fight fell through. Konecy just did all the things Hall did a little better. His defence was the tighter of the two and his shots were landing with more authority. Would still like to see Rhodes deal with Konecy and see if Rhodes handles him the way he did Moore.

Chisora v Sexton - Chisora was brilliant fun to watch tonight I thought. Some lovely head movement with powerful hooks to both head and body. It was great to see he can still go strong into the later rounds, despite looking knackered. Chisora has clearly established himself as #2 in UK and I'd love to see him take on Fury next. I see him taking that fight on PTS. Not sure where Sexton goes now, perhaps he should target Price or Larry O.

Clev v Murat - Easily the star of the show and FOTN. Not the performance expected from Cleverly but an exciting one and there was plenty of positives to take from it leading to a world title shot. Murat showed a great set of whiskers and I'll be looking out for his fights in future as well.

Brook v Jennings - I was impressed unlike others. He was making a big step up tonight and while he didn't look explosive he dominated from the onset and the dominance was about to translate into a more impressive performance. It was a disappointing end of course but it should take away from what Brook was doing in there. I wouldn't be interested in a rematch between these two and I'm not sure Jennings has what it takes anymore.

Enzo :-( Wasn't impressed with Frenkel at all but that shot was a monster. Would have had every CW in trouble although Enzo left himself open to it. I see Huck and Cunningham beating him.

Macklin did what was expected, dominated the tough and overmatched opponent, went through the motions a bit. Shame his fight with Barker was off but hopefully will be back on for Dec.

Winners
James DeGale - Didn't see the fight live but he impressed. Needs to be moved onto the next level. Can't afford him any distractions, this kid needs to be challenged. A grudge match against Groves recommended.


Lukas Konecny - Very good. Never doubted himself and never wavered or lost focus all night. Eventually got his reward in a good, solid display.


Nathan Cleverly - Star of the show. Sloppy at times - yes. But not many people get me jumping out of my chair shouting at a TV screen. He'll divide opinion but you can't deny that he is very exciting to watch. It seems that earlier signs of softness have grown out of him now that he has delevoped physically.



Kell Brook - A little uninspiring after a big build up - jury still out.



Derek Chisora - Surprise of the night. Wonderful HW display. Made a fan out of me.



Alexander Frenkel - Poor performance really apart from the last 30 seconds of the fight.



Matt Macklin - Decent and did what he had to do in the circumstances - won't be too critically judged.


Losers

Carl Dilks - Never really got going. Poor.



Matthew Hall - Tried to the best of his ability but was up against a better version of himself. Couldn't have done more.



Karo Murat - A naughty pupil at times, he was never comfortable but showed good heart to stay in there and keep trying. Will learn from this and come again.



Michael Jennings - Showed some glimpses but nowhere near enough.



Sam Sexton - Had a gameplan but never considered that his opponent had improved beyond sight. Was unlucky to come up against an excellent fighter on the night.



Enzo Maccarinelli - I can't say anymore than what has already been said.

 

I liked what I saw the Del Boy can't wait to see him out soon would certianly be interested in a fight between him and Fury. I also liked the look of Clev he still has a bit to learn but he was impressive and worked the crab defence Murat had very well.
