In addition to a broken nose that troubled his breathing and broken left hand they discovered a small bloot clot on his brain and he underwent a minor procedure to take care of it. His manager says Abdusalamov is doing well but that his left hand was the biggest hindrance during the fight because it affected his punch volume.

    Wish him the best.

Perez was always going to beat him, no matter what.

Very tough guy. But taking the punches he has, isn't good for his career in the long run. I don't think he'll be the same after that fight.

I was at the fight last night-great crowd and good action for the most part.Don't know what the **** is wrong with the Russians corner. The fight should have been stopped a lot earlier by the corner. They are a lot braver than their fighter.A shame when this happens.

Yeah it was painful watching him get punished like that. I was hoping the ref would stop it, his face was fuccked. and if a corner was right to call a fight off last night it was mago's.

    Not stevens corner

Mago won the 9th, with or without the point deduction.

So when should his tema have ended it?

In the 10th when Mago finally hurt Perez?????

He was down on the cards yes, but he always had a punchers chance, and for all they knew he had a broken nose.

Hard to go 10 when the nose is broke so early......but he showed a massive chin, and massive heart.

Hopefully he'll learn that he don't need to let his opponent tune him up for the first 2 minutes of the the first rd before he begins his leaky defense.:nut

Mago impressed me.. He did a lot better than I thought he would against Perez. Hopefully he's able to make a full recovery and return to the ring

I wish him a speedy recovery. He got beat up, but was in the fight and never stopped trying to win. Good on him, but now you have to worry of his future prospects.

    Agreed.

Stevens wasn't trying to win anymore, he was trying to survive, and failing. He was losing big on the exchanges and taking a lot of punishment, and it was getting worse. He was done.

Agreed that Mago's corner could have stopped it though.

Chitown, His team should be looking out for the health of a fighter first . . . **** it if he has a chance at winning. That's how guys get a permanent brain injury or worse. If your brave and tough man is taking that type of punishment you have to do what he would not. if it was the last round and all he had to do was get on his bike and get the win i can see how someone could let the fight go on. but if you are losing bad and letting it go on the outside chance that he might land a lucky punch you should be no longer training anybody

That was a tough, brutal fight, and I tip my cap to Mago and Perez for giving it everything they had like true warriors. I can't say I'm entirely surprised that this was part of the aftermath. Fights like that tend to result in both men leaving something in the ring, and both fighters were taking hellacious shots.

and his chin held up much better than most people would have lead you to believe. He was never actually hurt against McCline just caught with a nice shot he didn't see from a 260lb guy.
