What's this got to do with Floyd?

 

Abdusalamov was one of my favourite fighters, exciting balls to the wall.

 

terrible that this happened. great that he is alive, and can function to some extent.. hopefully he recovers enough to take care of himself. it could have ended like gerald mcclellan, or duk koo kim.

 

go ***** about people not liking floyd on another thread. it is classless on this thread.

You'd figure that all the money these guys make for people, that somehow someone would find a way to incorporate some sort of comprehensive insurance into the puzzle.

I hope he will fully recover......................the promoters should pay for this. Boxers should be given insurance......................however, there is a law suit, so I hope Mago wins...............

On some real ****, this breaks my heart. My father is in the same condition right now. Not related to boxing obviously but they suffered the same brain damage. Terrible thing to go through. Hard to watch and hard to accept when it's your family.

 

My Dad is in the same state currently, if I'm being honest with myself, I don't see him making a recovery.

 

And you had idiots who were upset the the Canelo-Angulo stoppage...:-(

 

I came to the conclusion long ago that a fight should be stopped as soon as it is clear that a participant either cannot win or has been injured at a level that cannot be easily determined. In short, if there's a question about health at any moment- stop it.

While this severe a situation is thankfully relatively rare, it may be that corner men also need some additional training on what to look for in terms of neurological effects. If your fighter is complaining that his "head" hurts... there IS swelling... possibly (if not likely)affecting the brain.

I can't think of any cases where the W is worth being impaired for the rest of your days.

I guess- as fight fans- all we can do is support every stoppage made when there's any question about health. The warriors out there may not like it, but our support should help them in the long term.

 

He looks to have some cognitive functionality and it seems that he is recovering on a step by step basis.

The upside is that he is not in a PVS either.

I suspect Michael Schumacher is probably in a similar state right now, maybe one step behind.
