Magomed didn't look great, just because you can pretty much walk through guys at that level doesn't mean that's exactly what you should do. The refs stoppage was terrible though how long would he have let that go on for if the fight supervisor hadn't jumped up onto the ring? At one point even Magomed looked at the ref as if to say are you gonna stop it. Pettaway should replace his trainer also. Anyone with sense could see he was badly hurt had about 0.1% of winning that fight by the end, I very rarely say this but his trainer should have threw in the towel. David Price beat Abdulsalamov 20-0 in the amateurs :nono
Just saw the fight. Not sure how Kenmore and IB can question Mago's power. It was clear to me that he is a monster puncher, every time he landed on Pettaway, he hurt him. Even Foreman didnt knock out all his opponents in the first few rounds at the beginning of his career. I agree that Mago's skills are not exactly stellar, but still heavyweight division needs big punchers who actually look to knock guys out. I hope Mago has a couple more good wins against decent opponents, it will be good for the division.
Iron Magomed looked great last night, I remarked to a friend that it reminded me of Tyson steamrolling Zouski, and he agreed.
With headgear on to protect from Magos winging concussive R hooks and OH Ls. Take the headgear off and Price is unconscious inside 1.:deal
Mago really need to put his career in fast forward. His power alone is enough to make huge noise in the division. Guys like Fury, Price, and Pulev are making names for themselves, but Mago is twice the man either of the 3 are. How anyone can criticize him is beyond me. I see a reincarnation of The Sniper, but with drive and will to train and WIN. A guy who wants to be a FIGHTER. :deal
Correct I think Helenius beat Price in the amateurs also something like 25-22. I just thought the 20-0 thing was an interesting fact as they are both prospects at a similar stage in their careers and I would think there is a decent chance of them crossing paths again in the pro game.
From what I have seen, A LOT of people are seriously overrating his power and overall prospects as a fighter. He just doesn't look special to me and seems like a career gatekeeper, maybe a little more than that. I don't ever see this guy getting anywhere near a championship bout, even with the HW division in the state of disarray it has been in and will be.
David Price is another HW who I feel is being extremely overrated. He was sparked out quite a few times in the AM's, so I don't know how his chin will hold up in the pros. The only quality he really has is height. Maybe all you need in todays HW division though is just one redeeming quality. ****ing depressing, innit?
