    I'm not real sure about Abdusalamov; I've seen a couple of his fights and my observations are: he hits hard enough to sooner than later stop his opponents but he is easy to hit. Does he have a rock-solid jaw? We don't know yet. I have seen him cross his legs while moving laterally and that is a big NO-NO in my book. It looks like he does not mind being out boxed just as long as he can land some punches, he'll take a few punches to land one, apparently believing his power is more effective than an opponent's combo.

    That's it in a nutshell. Without defense, you can only rise so far.

    I just now watched his fight against Pettaway (I completely missed that fight), and he did look a little bit sloppy at times; I saw where he crossed his feet over once - a world class guy would have floored him there. . .

    He reminds me more of a Maidana, but a little more cautious, and about 65% of the overall punch output; and doesn't favor the inside quite as much as Marcos will (he still likes mid-range, but for periods of each round, he will get right on the inside and go to work). . Mago prefers OUTSIDE, and MID-RANGE. . .

    HE stalks you down, doesn't have much of a jab, but has a pretty damn accurate, and crisp straight that he uses like a range finder, AND a cracking power punch.

    It's really hard to gauge how tight his defensive guard is. . But it's clear he's stiff in the upper body, and not very fleet of foot at all. . . But if he can time his high-guard properly, and keep it tight, that'll be more tahn enough. . At least against a B level guy lke Byarm who doesn't have world class power.

    This one is a tough call. There are a lot more questions than answers on both sides of the ledger. Their respective bodies of work are on the weak side, with Abdusalamov's slightly better IMO, as I don't give much weight to Byarm's "signature loss".

    So, if I had to say, I'd go with Abdusalamov to walk Byarm down and stop him in the 6th.

    ahah nice avi pic! how can somebody say that old dude is not fit? look at his forearms? they are like popeye's? Not as big, but very vascular, sinewy, and strong looking. . . im telling you, vann's one of those old dudes with a military background, and still knocks out pushups, situps, and mile runs everyday.

    Vann is the most accomplished fight referree in British history and is still officiating championship bouts in other parts of the world. He's a victim of David's and Booth's customary prefight *****-laden antics.

    Booth says Vann isn't young enough, big enough or fit enough? I'd wager that Vann would still kick Booth's ass up and down the high street of Booth's choice.

    Emphatically agree!

    Met Mago when he first came to the States and was training and fighting out of Florida. It is great to see him down to 229, he was 260 when he was in Florida and would wolf down a bowl of pirogis by himself at Tatiana's. Always was impressed with his power and strength in the gym, and always figured if he got in shape he could do some real damage. Hope he proves me right.

    It's an interesting pick - what punches have you seen Magomed troubled by that make you think a KO is likely? Or do you think he is just to easy to hit?
