mago has a glass jaw. perez so far has shown to have at least decent punch resistance, now i dont think perez is anything special but he should be able to beat mago.

I don't think he has a glass jaw, McCline could always punch, they say it's the last thing to go.

Magomed has a poor defense, he's too easy to hit. But he's always in entertaining fights so I'm looking forward to this one.

On paper I like Perez. But maybe Mago's camp knows something we don't.

It will be interesting seeing Mago in there with a guy with a winning attitude.

Nothing against McCline, but at 42 he wasnt exactly gonna get a title shot outta that fight. And while Bisbal tried to box, and was effective in spots, he was completely outta his game in doing so, and tired quickly. It was only a matter of time until Mago found that target and began to batter him.

As for the winner of this bout......this is on HBO, and both have similar credentials to Wilder. Arreola has already said he aint gonna be no opponent for Wilder, but will consider the fight when he's a titlist. So I think the winner of this bout, be it Mago or Perez, could very easily become true test for Deontay Wilder.

Wilder is fighting Firtha next.....which is itself a step up in terms of fighting a guy with some punch resistance, but Firtha is as crude as they come, and will be too easily hit. Wilder should get his 30th KO inside 5, remain undefeated, and can perhaps make a date with the winner of Mago/Perez.:think

Close one for me too. Gotta admit to a soft spot for Mago, but as has been repeatedly pointed out there's nothing subtle about his fighting.

I ain't quite sure where the glass chin idea comes from. Took a big punch on the chin from McCline and dropped like a tree, but wasn't buzzed in the slightest - more like his balance and stance were so rubbish it just knocked him over. He got up like nothing happened.

Perez is undoubtedly more skilled, but from what I've seen Mago has been putting in a lot of Gym work. He's come down a bit in weight since his earlier fights, and for me has improved, but if he wins it'll be on power and aggression.

I've voted for the Mago (T)KO but realistically could go either way. Perez has faced marginally more accomplished opposition, but especially more recently hasn't shown the kinda KO power of Mago. If it goes the distance (or even beyond 6) it has to be Perez on PTS but I (very slightly) favour the Mago KO (4 or 5).

Perez is training hard for this, has been training pretty steadily even when out of action.

Its a bizarre situation though, some rich guy in Ireland has a mangement contract with him, has him in this state of the art sports complex, pays big money to bring in the top sparring partners and they all go away raving about how good Mike is.

Tony Thompson has sparred Mike on 2 occasions and was KO'd the first time and comprehensively schooled the second time.

Boystov, Dimitrenko, Helenius, Wilder, Chambers, Glazkov, Takam, Charr, Price, Wach, Cunningham, Kevin Johnson, Ustinov, Pulev and Hamer have all been in Cork for sparring. And thats coming to Mikes place for sparring, not the other way around. His "handler" has alot of money by all accounts.

Its great for experience sure, but hes sending people away not wanting to fight him.

His inactivity is down to lack of motivation. He just doesn't like tune up fights that pay very little. He does not want to fight anyone that will not be seen as a scalp. The better the opponent then the better the training camp.

He was tantalisingly close to securing a fight with Tyson Fury 18 months back but the word is out there that hes just not seen as being worth the risk. He brings nothing to the table.

And hes not motivated enough to be knocking out bum after bum in order to force his way in so its catch 22.

1000% expect him to beat Abdusalamov purely because he sees it as a challenge and the opportunity to beat a so called "name".

  9. Mago knocks him out. He's the future in HW.

:good Thanks for the info. I've been wondering why we haven't heard more about Perez, but that explains it. He really should try and force his way into mandatory status because it doesn't sound like he'll be able to build enough name equity to land a title fight otherwise, but it seems like he's comfortable enough in this situation to be a little complacent.

Hopefully, if he beats Mago (I favor Perez, should be a good scrap though), he'll use that as a spring board and get a little more active. I won't hold my breath, though.

Only six days now until this fight.

Perez has some very good skills. It's going to be a difficult night for Magomed.

It's hard to say much about Mago because he knocks people out so quickly, I'll guess Perez is more rounded but Mago has the one shot power.
