That was pre-stroke news, he remains in critical condition with no change as of yet.

Here's the thing. If every time a fight was stopped due to "swelling of the face" a lot of you guys would be furious.

When a fighter isn't sent to the hospital immediately as a precaution after an obvious war and instead has to have his team take a taxi to get there, shouldn't you be furious?

An ambulance in midtown manhattan on a weekend night would be difficult to find/take.

Its not hindsight , lots were saying during fight to end it. Swelling face is one thing, they knew his orbital bone was probably broken. He was complaining of eye/jaw function. When bones in your skull that arent your nose start breaking in a HW match, its time to stop the match.

Ive never seen a fighter focus on and worry about his injuries like that before, and have his corner gloss over it. "just go out and throw a big punch". Like he hadnt been trying to win that way for the whole fight already.

The corner only had the possible rewards in mind, they werent considering their fighter at all. If you think different, go back and watch the fight again.

    Yes.

I wasn't addressing the post fight examination though, I was addressing the people who were saying the fight should be stopped. That's fine. As long as those same people think every fight where a fighter's face starts to swell up should be stopped.

I noticed the swelling. I wasn't alarmed or upset by it. Most people weren't from what I remember of the RBR. When boxing fans see a swollen face, they **** like "Jesus look at the state of his face" or "Golovkin ****ing him up good", not "I think the fight should be stopped."

    Just saying.

I was on the round by round thread. I can't recall a single post calling for the fight to be stopped.

Hoping to a speedy recovery. Both fighters gave a great action fight the division desperately needed.

I knew there was gonna be trouble from the opening bell when Perez just waded forward into Mago's wheelshouse and just started uncorking barrages of combos on Magos head. Neither man wanted to give ground and just kept on firing at each other like two titanic warships firing salvo after salvo praying the other sunk 1st.

Mago had a broken wrist, which cut back on his power. If not for that he would have landed a lot more punches and could possible have saved his life.........
