Nathan Lewkowicz ‏@Nlewkow1 Just spoke with Mago's Neurosurgeon he's out of the coma and will be moved to a regular room tomorrow. He's awake but not fully aware yet
Something to uplift my spirit today. I hope he makes a full recovery and hangs them up. It would be unfortunate if this tragedy happens to repeat itself should he make the unlikely decision to reenter into boxing.
ESPN said he is awake and aware of his surroundings but not talking. The doc said he will live but most likely have limb disfunction, it will take 18 months to know where he stands. The doctor also said that anyone on ESB that expects a person to return to the ring after a stroke, most likely has severe and permanent brain damage.
Great news, this was sort of bothering me for a while. I have a friend who had the same skull-removal procedure done after a vehicle accident and made a complete 100% recovery (aside from some personality changes). Nowhere near this amount of time in a coma, but still makes me optimistic for his recovery. Really sad to see this happen to anybody, but especially so since his life was built around boxing and he hadn't made the big bucks yet. Hope all works out for him and his family.
Just tragic. This is why nobody who steps in the ring should ever be labeled a coward. This could happen in any fight. God speed with your recovery.
The thinig that he's got on his side is that he has the heart of a lion. Godspeed, Magomed Abdusalamov. You and your family remain in my prayers.
I wish him a good recovery. They just don't know anything for sure yet, but this is still good news.................. Two billionaire Russians are going to help pay his bills................
