Mago's corner reminded me of Mike Tysons corner when he fought Buster Doulas in Tokyo No one seemed to have a clue what do do. You only had to look at his face to know something serious had happened. The referee acted like he didn't notice anything wrong too My prayers are with Mago that he makes a fast complete recovery. Both Mago & Perez fought like true warriors pity the Klit brothers haven't got balls like these guys. All four fighter on the HBO card fought their hearts out. Is a shame tragedy had to put the damper on a great evenings boxing
And this is why people get pissed off at record padding bum fighters like Deontay Wilder. If he gets a WBC Title shot, that is f'n BS. Other contenders like Magomed,Perez,David Price, Tyson Fury, Seth Mitchell, they are stepping up and fighting real dangerous opponents. They aren't fighting 30 bums, journeymen, washed up ex contenders from 7 years ago like Wilder and then just expecting a title shot.Seth Mitchell could be 30-0 all Ko's vs Wilders comp. Respect for stepping up and taking on real challenges, not record padding vs easy opponents.
Really appropriate for you and UnleashTheFury to hijack a thread about a boxer suffering life-threatening injuries and turn it into an anti-Wilder thread. I realize you speak for the reasons that every single poster who has critized Wilder has done so, because, well, you speak for everyone. Like there are no other threads on this forum to make this point. While you're at it, why not make this about whether Floyd ducked Pac or vice-versa? Godspeed to Mago.
. He cannot they removed his skull and he had a craniotomy. That is a serious brain injury. Just hope he isnt permanently disabled as a result. Godspeed to him.
This is sad, finally someone has the courage to face Perez and this happens. Sad for Magomed, hopefully he pulls through.. Perez may as well hang em up aswell, the big names were avoiding him before this - now his chances of landing a big fight are slim to none.
Thanks. Nice to read he's stable and is expected to recover. Thank god it didn't turn out badly. I hope the NY state athletic commission look at this and treats serious bodily harm as cause for stoppage. It's crazy fights are stopped due to cuts but not for broken noses, jaws or broken orbital bones.
Stevens' corner may very well have saved Stevens from brain damage.........Abdusalamov is in a coma, they had to take part of his skull out to reduce the swelling of his brain. Abdusalamov had a broken wrist, broken cheek bone, broken nose, etc., yet he kept fighting as he would not quit. The scoring on the fight should have been much closer, he probably has busted balls after taking all the low blows from Perez. Perez was not in good shape after the fight either. After having a broken wrist, etc., Abdulsalamov's corner should have stopped the fight like Steven's corner did. Now he will never fight again, if he lives..............Gerald McClellen would say the same...........
There was one low blow. The other was on the belt and he was warned. Stop acting like the outcome was a result of dirty fighting.
I suggest you watch the video. There were warnings before the point was taken away. The commentator noticed the low blows before the referee, but that is not the real subject here. Mago had tons of bad luck all the way through the fight. Perez got busted up some himself. If Mago had a corner like Stevens had he would not be in this condition, same with Gerald McClellen years ago, so many others who are not only in bad shape mentally, but so many who are dead..........So, never call Stevens a quitter..........
