Mahmoud Omeirat Charr vs. Kubrat Venkov Pulev & Gleb Bakshi vs. Juan Antonio Llanes RBR.

I know the timing may not be the best but is it too early to talk about Pulev vs Charr 2, this time in Syria?

 

The 2 “commentator’s” were Andy Daniel and Eric Botjer, the latter, the one with the American accent. Not sure of my spelling of his surname, but have heard his name somewhere before in a boxing context. Surprising given, how inept the pair were!

Botjer sort of sounded like Howard Stern.

 

Pulev won that **** fair and square in a good performance, in front of his countrymen, at the age of 43. Can’t hate.

yes, it was a B level belt won by a B level fighter, but so what? It was entertaining in its own way, it meant something to the people there, it didn’t cost me anything to watch, and randomly my wife actually watched a boxing match with me.

 

I am going to make and ass out of myself and say that as much fun as we have had at his expense, and as ridiculous as this is being a "title" fight, Pulev is a good guy and had a good run. He earned a shot with Wladdy by beating Tony Thompson, Ustinov and Dimentrenko, and whereas he was hopelessly outmatched, he came out and hit Wladdy with a jab in the opening that rocked him real good.

Additionally he has beaten Chisora, HughFury, Kingpin Johnson, Sam Peter, Sprott, Rossi, Vidoz, Guinn, Forrest, Wawrzyk, Walker, Skelton, Harris, Oloukon, and now Charr. They ain't all world-beaters, but not one of them is a bum, either.

With this win, Pulev is now the second oldest heavyweight champion in history. 43 years old. The record holder is obviously Big George Foreman.

For all extents and purposes, this is a good accomplishment on Pulev's behalf. Nobody thought he was gonna be a world champ after he was decimated by Klitschko and Joshua. For him to come back and win a world title, albeit not the most prestigious, is still pretty darn good. Not to mention that he paid and funded for the entire card to happen. He clearly put a huge effort to organize a heavyweight championship fight in a place like Bulgaria. A place not exactly known for it's boxing.

Well matched main event.

Both guys were old, inactive, and neither could punch hard enough to hurt the other bad enough to cause a stoppage. All the rounds were competitive, but Pulev landed more in just about all of them. I'm glad Pulev won in front of his hometown crowd. I'm glad Charr came to fight and landed a bunch of his own shots. Both guys seemed pleased with themselves at the end. The crowd went home happy.

I enjoyed watching it. And someone finally knocked off Charr and ended the ridiculous WBA Regular belt "saga" of court cases.

All that said, whoever gets Pulev in the ring first is the new WBA "Regular" Champ.

I'd take 13 of the current 15 WBA contenders to beat Pulev.

The only two guys in the WBA's current top 15 who Pulev could beat are Cassius Chaney (who just lost to Hunter) and, actually, Murat Gassiev ... who light-punching Otto Wallin totally dominated (despite the cards) with a jab alone.

I think Pulev could box their ears off. That said, even Gassiev and Chaney would have a puncher's chance against Pulev.

Whoever signs to fight him next buys the WBA Regular belt.

Jarrell Miller blows out Pulev in a couple rounds. Lenier Pero should go for it. Fabio Wardley, too. They'd all win handily.

First man who gets Pulev to sign the contract wins that belt.
