Mahyar Monshipour vs Somsak Sithchatchawal - 20 Year Anniversary (Fight of the Year 2006)

One of my favorites fight for ever ! All the fights of Mahyar Monshipour are so underrated (I recommend his two fights with Salim Medjkoune and his fight with Shigeru Nakazato) and Somsak amazing warrior, he have the same style one of my favorites boxers.

When you look this period of 2000-2006 in 122 lbs, it was absolutely fantastic, Shigeru Nakazato, Mahyar Monshipour and Somsak have the same very pressure style!


I will be very curious if in that time what will happen if Mahyar Monshipour or Somsak Kokietgym / Somsak Sithchatchawal would have attempted to unify against the WBO Southpaw champion Daniel Ponce De León. Even if one of them Somsak or Mahyar If he had been up against Sod Kokietgym, who was also very good in that category and had world-class skills ( I also advise Sod Kokietgym vs Daniel Ponce De León I who was a very great fight), I wonder who would have won. I think Mahyar Monshipour was weakened by his wars with Julio Zarate and Shigeru Nakazato. As for Somsak, he was never the same after his fight against Mahyar Monshipour. You only have to look at his fight against Poonsawat, who was certainly better than Mahyar Monshipour, to realize that Somsak wasn't taking the hits anymore. In the end, he lost before the final bell against Fernando Otic, a Filipino journeyman.


After this fight Mahyar Monshipour declined a lot, he try to make a comeback and then have a decent win against the more declined Felix Machado former IBF Super Flyweight champion, but lost again Anselmo Moreno prime in a pretty good performance (one of the new head of Super Bantamweight), then after this lose he definetely take his retirement.

 

Now Mahyar Monshipour is currently one of the advisor of the ministery of the sports in France, and he have the nationality of France since 2001, and Somsak Sithchatchawal is currently a sports educations teacher for high school students, and have also his own little boxing gyms and he is a trainer in boxing for the childrens in the city of Chaiyaphum ( it's also the city where Veeraphol Sahaprom is living too).
