The manner in which the 23-year-old St. Louis native bowed out of Saturday’s bout convinced THE RING’s editorial board to demote him while rewarding another top contender who did exhibit elite-level heart in a recent loss.
“We have advanced Marcos Maidana over Alexander because, after comparing his loss to Bradley and Maidana’s loss to Amir Khan, it was clear that Maidana’s showing was far superior to Alexander’s,” said Nigel Collins, Editor-in-Chief of THE RING magazine.

Good for maidana, hopefully this opens up more fights for him :good

Once Khan fights Bradley, the winner can face the winner of Maidana/Alexander (if it happens). That way, pretty much everyone has fought each other.

    Ortiz is just lost

Correct order would be Khan, Bradley, Kotelnik, Maidana, Alexander, maybe you can switch no1 and no2 or no3 and no4.

The biggest loser in all of this is probably Kotelnik.

Before finishing reading your post I was thinking "Agree, although maybe you can switch 1 and 2 or 3 and 4"

:thumbsup Kotelnik beat Maidana and in reality clearly beat Alexander and yet he is rated behind both by the Ring.

Both were really, really close fights and Kotelnik is lacking the dominant, signature win to put himself into the thick of things.

    Bradley
    Khan
    Maidana
    Alexander
    Kotelnik

Then again Kotelnik looked worse in his loss to Khan than Maidana did. Overall here's my list: Bradley, Khan, Kotelnik, Maidana, Alexander

Though I agree that Khan would beat Bradley and is a better fighter than Bradley, at this point he should not be rated higher based on the fact that he has a loss and his resume isn't as good as Bradley's.

I don't have a problem with someone rating Maidana over Kotelnik as their fight was very close and could have gone either way. The only reason Kotelnik is rated at no.5 is because he is not marketable...

High risk, low reward at this point.

Hard to believe after what was said before and after the Khan bout.

Their fight was close I thought Kotelnik won it by a few points but I can't argue if people thought Maidana deserved it. Kotelnik beat Alexander and still has a win over Maidana so I think he deserves to be rated higher than Maidana. Poor Kotelnik should be in the mix I have him over Alexander actually.
