Maidana has the right STYLE to beat Mayweather, just not the right SKILL level.

Roberto Duran would've gave FLoyd hell if they were both prime for prime at 135 or 140.

There's a few guys that could easily beat him because they were naturally larger Welter's than Mayweather such as SRR, SRL, Hearns, but as far as actual skillset goes I think Duran has the best style to give FLoyd a lot of issues. He fights almost the complete round as a mixture of a pressure fighter and technical boxer. His defense was very good, he had excellent head movement which helped him get into the pocket without getting touched. He has terrific power, truly ATG power, in both hands. His style could switch from boxing to swarming in a nanosecond.

That's the style to beat FLoyd IMO. Another guy who fought similar to Duran in certain ways is Chavez Sr, but I'd favor FLoyd slightly to beat him because Chavez didn't possess the defensive abilities that Duran did and Chavez could be outboxed from a distance by a superior boxer with good footwork and handspeed. I thought Taylor whitewashed him up until the 12th and I thought Sweet Pea clearly won a UD against him.

so if this is the known way to beat Floyd why can't anyone do it, can't beat him on points, can't knock him down, can't knock him out, can't even hurt him.....what's the problem?

    I don't agree with you.

Chavez would beat Mayweather. Chavez had underrated defense and amazing counter ability.

He has the perfect style to beat a LOW output fighter like Mayweather.

Whitaker actually had a very high workrate in addition to his amazing defense.

On top of that, Whitaker's stance caused Chavez problems because it gave Whitaker more time to react.

Chavez would use his patient stalking style to make Mayweather use too much energy and that right hand he ruined Taylor's career with, would PUNISH Mayweather.

Basically, the same right hand he beat his Uncle with would be a similiar detriment to Mayweather.

Last night wasn't the first time Mayweather has been hit with a counter right. Maidana also landed that punch the last fight somewhere between the 8th and 10th rounds.

    I can't remember exactly.

And this is Maidana who can barely throw a straight punch to save his life. Chavez right straight counter was a HAMMER.

    I'm talking prime for prime.

You must forget what a prime Floyd Mayweather looks like. He was arguably one of the 5 most skillful boxers in the history of the sport. He didn't have a low punch output whatsoever in the lighter weights- he was an offensive virtuoso with elite handpseed, elite accuracy, he put combinations together frequently, and pretty good pop on his punches. That was just his offense. At his prime, he's one of the greatest 2 way fighters in the history of the sport.

    There are levels to boxing.

If that was Margarito, Floyd wouldn't have made the 10 count.

And I'm not even saying Margarito is at the highest level.

He just has intagibles and physical assets Maidana doesn't.

Floyd made a very calculated and smart decision in avoiding Margarito who would have PUNISHED Mayweather, win or lose.

But if you talk about high level fighters, that would be guys like Armstrong, La Motta, Duran, Chavez.

At the end of the day, it's about styles though. That's why Margarito, despite not being at the level of a Duran or Chavez, would give Mayweather such a tough fight. Admittedly, Margarito's sheer SIZE would play a signficant role in that.

Perhaps, in his lighter weights. I'll give you 50/50 in my opinion. But being discussed in that category with another great like Chavez is win in itself.

It means in my opinion, and probably in yours, Mayweather is an ATG.

And I believe that too. But still, Mayweather has never seen a guy like Chavez. I suppose you could say the same about Chavez, but he's seen a lot of guys that are simliar.

You can't say the same for Mayweather.

nobody ever said Floyd didn't get hit, the question is how often? If he gets hit with a good punch, solid, it almost never happens twice, Floyd's see's the mistake and fixes it, that's why he's 47-0

Because it's not easy to apply. It takes a really high quality fighter to be able to do it and Mayweather made a career proving he's too good to allow anyone to apply it. Fighters I believe will be able to apply it far better than Maidana are Paul Williams in 2007 and Pacquiao in 2009-2011. Those are only two fighters out of literally everyone else.

I don't care about all that.

Reckoning day is on its way.

So you can make all these excuses, but one day they will be in the ring, and you won't have any choice, but to watch him take a beating.

I know you don't want the fight, but it will happen.

And you will cry like a lil beech.
