The man has no defense. He did well to overwhelm Broner with his brawling but a more skilled and wiser boxer would pick Maidana apart. Broner underestimated him and was interested in showboating rather than boxing clever otherwise he could have taken that fight. There were rounds where he hit Maidana at will on the counter, but he didn't do that often enough and had little lateral body or head movement. And Broner noticeably didnt move aorund the ring or spin out of difficult situations. Maidana doesn't have the defense or speed to live at the elite level in such a stacked division. He has a punchers chance and fire in his belly but his progress will be limited due to his horrid defense.

A boxer will normally beat a brawler.

Maidana wouldnt stand a chance against Mayweather, whose style is perfectly suited to the wild brawling style of the argentine.

On the contrary, Floyd's style is more suited for conventional boxers/styles. Floyds movements, his training on the pads, all practice of repetition against certain movements, usually textbook boxing movements. That is why sometimes its easier to box a lesser boxer than a wild brawler, a wild brawler can throw a boxer off course with its unconventional moves. A typical textbook boxer throws punches in a specific way that if you are the better boxer, you have practised in repetition many times to counter those moves.

Floyd would still school Maidana, because he is 3 levels above but disagree with the styles thing.

I was thinking the same and nobody was mentioning it. Maidana wasn't THAT impressive, Broner was just that bad. I'm sure Maidana has improved under Garcia, he's on a run of 3 really good wins, but some of the technique behind his punches especially the overhand right?! And people on ESB want to slate Wilder for his wild punches...

Bit harsh on Chino, i saw him slipping shot and countering Broner, he jabbed the f uck out of him as well. Maidana is what he is and that is a puncher at heart but i believe he is also vastly underrated as a boxer. He is nowhere near as bad has he gets labeled. If he was he would never win a fight at this level.

Marcos isn't a defensive fighter but he has defensive skills. He is a little sloppy but that's due to his unorthodox style and a lack of a real boxing foundation.....I've seen a lot of improvement under Garcia. Miadana is an unpolished gem that is getting buffed.

A wiser and more skilled fighter would be someone like Floyd or PAC. Not many are capable of beating the top of the food chain but there's always a chance due to the nature of this sport.

Marcos will never be a fluid classic boxer.....it's not his style nor would it suit his make up as a fighter any better. However he is an elite boxer/fighter based on performance. He has never been dominated against the best the sort had to offer. His style matches up well with certain kinds of boxers.....more cautious or mobile fighters will always give Miadana problems. But his relentlessness and power always makes it interesting.

Agreed.... Miadana a impressed me with his boxing last night. He was setting **** up.... Laying traps and even using angles sometimes. He was in a good rhythm most of the night and Broner never found his.

His body to head combinations were brutal and dare i say it pretty fast, another thing Chino is no where near as slow as he gets labeled. he is now throwing 3 or 4 punch combo's, you can't block all of them, at least one will get through most of the time.

Hes still a very raw fighter lacking boxing skills but his relentlessness, aggression and punching power make him a formidable foe.

He did well with the jab when he threw it. I don't know why Garcia, had him stop. He was not getting countered it, was setting up big overhand right hands. He should use the jab more against better fighters in the division in the future if he wants to win.

Maidana is a good fighter and a very dangerous opponent, but... barring a lucky punch, any boxer with p4p credentials or ambitions should be beating him fairly easily.

Maidana is what he is, but he isn't, nor ever will be, a p4p top 10 boxer. A very dangerous opponent and worthy champion none the less.

He was letting them hands go freely and it did look fast. He wasn't waiting on Broner at all so he was getting off first every time. So Adrien was reacting the entire night to what Maidana was doing. And you're right...3 or 4 punch combos are hard to defend against but at the same time it does make you vulnerable to counters if someone is willing to punch with you and has an advantage inhand speed. Broner caught Marcos a few times punching in between Marcos's combos.

People aren't giving Maidana enough credit. He doesn't have to become an elite boxer he just needs to learn enough to set up a couple power punches where and there and that'll be enough to beat a lot of fighters. As for Maywesther and Maidana not even in dreamland can Maidana be competitive
