I don't mean overrated in the typical sense as he's a tough fighter and I respect him, but he's more of a product of hype especilly after the Ortiz fight. Ortiz was whopping his ass and could have beat him easy, but the young fighter made a mistake and tried to brawl with Maidana. I'm not trying to take anyway from Maidana cause he showed a lot of heart but Ortiz just fought a dumb fight. And its not like Maidana has brutal power. Ortiz quit because of mental weakness not because of being concussed by Maidana. Maidana struggled with Victor Cayo, and I just see Khan using his height, reach, and boxing ability to school Maidana easily.
I don't know what you don't understand. Maidana has good power yes, but he's not a one punch KO artist. Like I said he hit Ortiz with a lot of huge shots but Ortiz never came close to ***** street, but he quit because he lacked heart. They are very few guys in boxing who literally have that one shot KO power.
I agree with all of the original posters points Not impressed with Maidanas boxing ability his shots are way to wide and easy to see coming Khan has improved a lot since Prescott and like many soft chinned fighters has learned to make up for the deficiency Maidana is gonna get schooled and probably stopped
I dont know maybe at the time he was but now his hype has eroded I think Ortiz is good he has recovered well shown no signs of stumble he got stupid in that fight paid for it learned his lesson and will rpobably get better its nice to see guys like Ortiz and Khan see adversity early so when they get to their first superfight they know they arent invincible know their limitations and know what its like to lose and not to let it happen If he gets by Maidana I'd love an Ortiz fight
I agree, I still think Ortiz will do some things in the sport....I would like to see Khan-Ortiz too.....Khan has a victory over Ortiz in the amateurs....
