Maidana has proven one-punch K.O. power, on the other had if Malinaggi had ko'ed Khan then we could be talking about one the most epic china-chinned fighters of all time. Maybe Khan needs to have his chin-checked by Wlad. If he cannot take a full Wlad right-hand powerpunch on the chin then Khan should just hang his gloves-up!
Maidana has the power to KO anybody, regardless of their chin, so if Khan get's knocked out, it's not necassarily because he has a bad chin. A lot of people, and his trainer says he hits like a mule and his Power is Middleweight type.
In a very basic sense no, it doesn't prove anything; it doesn't say anything we don't know about Khan's chin and it doesnt say anything we don't already know about Maidanas power. Edit: Further to Lazarus' point, Maidana does indeed carry crazy power. Have you heard hte sounds he makes on the pads? people at ringside say his shots even sound different to other peoples.
I get where you're coming. From 140-147, Maidana has the power to put anyone to sleep. But it does prove that Khan's defence isn't where it needs to be in order to achieve the success his talent warrants.
This fight is more about Khan than it is about Maidana's punching power. Khan gets by Maidana and he silences the critics and moves on to bigger and better things. Maidana KO's him and Khan's dream of becoming a top P4P fighter is gone.
Yep, but I'm glad Khan and Freddie were there to witness the punches, ringside, at Maidana/Ortiz, so they know what they're up against.
but Young Bankroll KTFO Maidana. Hopefully, it'll look like Mayweather-Corrales, with Khan being Young May.
It also depends on the manner he gets knocked out. If it's another joke - like Prescott - where he's shattered from the first decent punch he recieves, then his career is almost ****ed. But if he's stopped in the same manner Ortiz was (bar the 'no mas'), then the storm won't be as bad.
You're right, Khan's defense will decide this fight. I believe it has improved under Roach. Much more lateral movement, no longer back's up in straight-lines but this will be the first time he ever faced a genuine worl-level pressure fighter with one-shot K.O. power. Foot-speed (defense) will be just as important as hand-speed (offense) and in both Khan as the advantage. The fight is on such a knife-edge, technically Khan is streets ahead of Maidana but that power vrs that chin..... The flip-side is that Maidana may well be overwhelmed by the sheer speed & volume of shots coming back and TKO'ed. He is open, very open to being caught. Does the 3 knockdown rule come into effect for the WBA? He may not be hurt by Khan's shots (decent power ) but he could be put down by combination punching especially in the later rounds.
