Maidana needs to throw WAAYYYY more body shots if he wants to win!

Maidana isn't a dumb fighter but for some reason I think he will approach this fight as the first fight. Just will focus on being more judicious with his punches and improve his conditioning.

I heard Garcia say that Maidana only did a few weeks of sparring in first fight because of his child so I expect his conditioning to improve.

I still think Mayweather is too cagy and will surprise Maidana leaving him desperately flailing away.

Maidana thinks he will have Floyd on the ropes more this fight.....we shall see.

If Maidana lands some solid punches early on and focuses on clean hard body work it will definitely pay off in the Championship rounds should it go that far!!!

 

I personally go by a combination of statistics and the eye test, which IMO both favored Floyd. But the rule of thumb in judging is usually to favor the champ if the round was "Razor close." Anyway I don't think there were too many razor close rounds in their first fight to warrant that philosophy being used.

It's hard for me to give points to Maidana when he's not landing anything of note, aside from shots to the back of the head and the occasional clean body shot. He did put up a competitive fight, no doubt about it, but I didn't have him winning more than 4 rounds. His fight was as close as FLoyd's fight with Oscar- they were both throwing a lot of punches on FLoyd when he was pinned on the ropes, but nothing of signifcance was being landed, no shots were hitting FLoyd flush. I scored both of those fights 8-4.

Anyway let's see how the rematch goes. By the 7th round in the last fight, Floyd kept the fight for the most part in the center of the ring. I expect him to continue using that tactic from the 1st round on.
