No B.S. - it's over at BS. :deal

The public news conference scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif. is canceled.

Gary Shaw just got a call from GBP VP Eric Gomez indicating that MRM "missed his flight" to the U.S. for their bout scheduled over two months from now.

"Eric told me ... later in the same conversation told me Maidana's back was still injured and that he would not be fighting Timmy on July 17," said Shaw. "Obviously Maidana's back was not getting any better and a call to us last week from Team Maidana would have been the professional thing to do. But HBO and Agua Caliente are standing behind Timmy and his July 17 date, and I expect to announce Timmy's new opponent soon."

Phil Cooper, executive director of marketing for Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa said the development is a disappointment: "Certainly this is not what we expected, however we're excited about what Gary has in the works.

Bradley moves up to fight Mayweather on short notice...

Well that is wishful thinking, I doubt Alexander is a go, So I am going to guess Nate Campbell gets a shot?

Pac's looking for a fight at 140 so he can keep his Ring title.

    Pacquiao/Bradley anyone?

No, Nate has Ortiz in less than two weeks, same night as Malignaggi-Khan.
Ngoudjo and Julio Diaz are fighting each other the night before that, so they're out.

It could be almost anybody. Anybody at 140 that's available, fresh, and willing to face Bradley on 11 weeks' notice. It may not necessarily be an elite operator.

Forbes? Urango maybe (it will have been over four months since his loss to Alexander, and that would make for a great common opponent comparison).

Pitalua would make Desert Storm look like a MONSTER. Tailor made.

We'll have to wait and see, and hope it's somebody good! :bbb War Gary Shaw!

Bradely vs. alexander would be a mega fight. These two are perfectly matched. Only problem w/ alexander's recent fame DOn will wanna capitalize by beating easier fighters.

This is disappointing, but if Maidana's back is still bothering him, I'm glad he did pull out now opposed to going through with the fight and blaming his performance on injury.

Shaw has a point. The day before the press conference is a bit late notice.

There should still be time for him to wrangle a miracle alternate big match (or at least something "acceptable").

Well, there is always Zab Judah. Judah has mentioned going back down to 140 to fight Alexander, though Judah is tied to Don King.

Definitely, I'm sure there are plenty of quality operators who would grab that opportunity by the scruff of the neck. Sickened McCloskey is tied up with a Euro defense, this could have been his big break. Kotelnik could be an option.
