This was one of the best fights lined up this year, very disappointing that it was called off. I wouldn't be surprised if the Abregu fight gets brought back up. But this really opens the door for the Alexander fight, HBO might want to sit on that one for a fight or two so I don't know if it gets made or not right now but I'd love to see it.

There is a 140 pound douleheader on HBO next week with Khan-Mallignagi and Ortiz-Campbell. It would be a short window but its possible Bradley could face someone off that card. It wouldn't be Khan with the short time frame and I'm not sure Ortiz gets put in with Bradley quite yet. But if Campbell or Malliganagi win then its possible. Guzman would be an ideal opponent but I really don't know if anyone would take a gamble on him anymore. I think we end up with the Abregu match after all.

Guzman is facing Casamayor on July 31.

As for Bradley-Alexander, it's not ripe yet. Much like how Dundee knew that Leonard-Hearns needed a few years to develop into the big thing it became when he rejected an early offer, Bradley's people should recognize that this has the potential to be the biggest-money all-American light welterweight event in...I don't even know how long.

As for Abregu...unless he's making the 140lb limit, I don't see how this makes any sense. All risk, no reward.

I saw the Guzman-Casamayor fight lined up but I wasn't sure how firm that was. I'd agree with you on the possibility of building up a Bradley-Alexander fight. It could be a really big fight if played up right. I would like to see it now because its such a good fight but if its a fight or two away I would be fine with that. Its a dangerous idea but could prove smart.

I'm mixed about an Abregu match up. On the plus side it would be a winnable fight where Bradley could look good in. Abregu is fun to watch but too sloppy and lacks the chin to beat Bradley. It would be exciting and Bradley might score a stoppage here. On the down side it is a high risk low reward scenario for Bradley. There was talk of a catchweight earlier and would probably be the same here so Bradley wouldn't be defending his belt here either. I think it ends up being Bradley-Abregu because most of the other top guys around Bradley's weight seem commited elsewhere.

That or Maidana knows there are weaker eggs to break (ie, Khan).

This seems more likely, a similar strategy to the one Haye took, while somewhat "hoeish" it's obviously worked out OK for Haye. Long term it's not a bad strategy assuming you don't underestimate Khan, then poof purple confetti everywhere, and you are stuck like Charlie Murphy after Prince busted his ass in basketball.
