In the lead up to this fight, we've focused so much on what Maidana can do to Khan's chin. But what about Khan's other weakness - the body? Quite a few people here have already mentioned this, but it hasn't been touched upon as much as I thought it would. We're all aware of the Gomez fight, where in addition to being knocked down, Khan was hurt severely to the body.

Maidana's problem, amongst many, will be the task of finding and getting to Khan - who'll be looking to utilize his superior footwork. So I'm expecting the Argentinian to go for Khan's body straight from the bell. He'll launch bombs to the arms, shoulders, ribs....absolutely anything to tire and take away the legs of Khan. Now he may not generate the power he normally would like, due to being on the move and not planting his legs, but he'll find enough success to get the job done.

So to those who are expecting Khan's chin to fail him, don't forget about the body. That's where Maidana's best work will be done.

He also needs to minimize that bad habit he has of leaning the upper body back (whilst his feet are planted) when put under pressure (see 1:15 of the below vid), as it'll be punished by Khan's long reach. He'd do well with a Frazier style of head down, gloves up, and swaying side to side whilst hunting him down.

Yeah, I agree. I made a thread about this a long time ago and it's certainly a post which hasn't been raised often enough. It's a lot easier for a fighter to protect their chin than body, so this may be the way the fight ends tonight.

Watching those Cayo clips only make me lean towards Khan. Still routing for Maidana though!

Yeah, I think I remember that thread. Take the body, and the head will go. Maidana's going to be vicious if he can keep Khan close.

Yeah, that Cayo fight did show alot of weaknesses. Despite not being knocked down, Maidana showed more signs of being human than he did in the Ortiz one.

Yes, but as we know, Maidana doesn't mind taking a few on his way in.

Maidana has an extremely leaky defence and mediocre footwork and handspeed (compared to Khan).

I don't think Khan's gonna stand in front of Maidana for too long, he'll be circling him and firing off his jab and 1-2 constantly.

I'm also confident that Roach has a plan in place just for this scenario too.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem Maidana faces. He's facing an opponent, who unlike the others, won't fight his fight. But luckily for him, this opponent isn't very durable. If he finds early success (to the body or head), the fight will swing heavily in his favour.

I am not sure khan can handle the pressure.. If he can he will win.

    You might well be right.

Then again I think Khan's going to answer a lot of questions concerning his "durability" tonight, he's gonna get caught clean at least once in this fight... and I'm very curious to see how he will react.

Me personally, I think he's going to suprise a lot of people.... but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

And that's where I think he will fail. Both he and Roach conceded themselves, that in this fight he's going to be on the receiving end of Maidana's shots. They seem to be confident in handling them, but I'm not.

But I hope you're right, though. I want Khan to be able to cope with the pressure, and handle himself to a good win.

Khan will prove his durability tonight. Team Roach took care of that.
